[PPGT] Après Ski | Avs vs Jets | The Grind it Out Edition

Accurate title – that was a grind game. Not pretty, but they got it done. Nice win by the Avs in any case.
Malinski has been looking so good. Drury also was super noticeable last night so this all checks out. Good game all around, not surprised that the score wasn’t higher on our end because we consistently have trouble in WPG but super glad we decidedly won that game. I’m expecting another big win with a higher differential tomorrow.
Brock Nelson at 100% for faceoffs in the defensive zone? Heard that stat from Meghan Angley.
Parker Kelly is a fucking animal. Taking into account his role he’s absolutely one of our best and most valuable players.
Manson deserves bonus points for bludgeoning Morgan Barron.
I love that the Expected Goals list actually lines up to who scored, might be the first time ever.
It’s nice to see that when MacKinnon can’t get it going Necas steps up and gets scoring. When Necas can’t get it going MacKinnon steps up and gets scoring. It’s nice that they can both step up and score independently from each other

Gotta let these D pairs ride. Breaking up Toews and Makar has really helped their games.
I was thinking about something that happened in a game maybe a couple of years ago. I can’t remember the season, but it involved the Avs goalie (I think it was Georgiev) going to the bench for an extra attacker for a situation that wasn’t a delayed penalty or at the end of the game. It was a pretty heads up play since it was an unusual situation and it probably wasn’t something most goaltenders would think of in a situation like that. Effectively the whistle was going to blow when the opposition touched a puck in a situation that wasn’t a delayed penalty. But I can’t remember what the situation was. Does anyone remember this?
The Kelly-Drury-Kivi line has been such a forechecking monster. They’ve been setting the tone with their physicality and tenacity. Good to see Jack get rewarded last night.
