Aqualini is a total scumbag…Canucks will never be successful until he is no longer the owner.
Maybe he… beggs… to be re-instated. Lol.
There's no liability associated to the Aquilinis in this case, so this is just shoving more dirt onto the season. But the Aquilini's previous mixups with cheap labor and bad practices in berry farms are well known, as well as other family squabbles, leading to a perception of uncertainty with ownership. As usual, it's not a good look. Meanwhile the Dallas Stars are one of the most solid franchise in the NHL. Canucks picked the wrong Italians?
And yet he also has the AUDACITY to raise ticket prices after seeing just how bad the Canucks are right now. Honestly it’s time a new owner steps in.
Brother Paulo sold his share of the team to Francesco. Fran had to find several hundred million dollars to complete the deal. I have a feeling that Fran is now cash poor, hence the hike in ticket fees, a low budget 1-rink training facility, routine hiring of rookie coaches and bad customer PR. Look at the Utah Mammoth and their operations. Fran is not as wealthy as other NHL owners, I believe?
Yeah, I don’t blame FA for this. It has nothing to do with the sport or team. FA has blown a lot of bad money on the team listening to idiotic GMs. He’s got the cache to pull this move off. The only thing he’s worth criticizing over is being impatient & hiring stupid incompetent & now senile people to run the team.
I don't blame Rutherford or Allvin for any of this. They came in under false pretences. They were told by ownership that they were coming in to "retool" the team and get them back into the playoffs. When that proved to be impossible, I guarantee they were trying for months to get Aquilini to agree to a rebuild. Jim Rutherford has Cups with 2 different teams. It doesn't matter how he got them or what he inherited. No one can take those cup rings away from him. Now we're really seeing that Aquilini is the villain here, not management. We can replace management all we want, but they still answer to ownership. I remember my late mother when there was that legal battle with the Gaglardis (who later bought the Stars, good for them) saying she knew them and they were decent people. I hoped they'd win the Canucks and they didn't. I knew next to nothing about the Aquilinis, but I was willing to give any local owner a chance after the "fun" we had with John McCaw. Now I just miss Arthur Griffiths. Can we get Ryan Reynolds, Michael J Fox, Buble and Arthur to buy the team? There's an ownership group I can get behind. They'd do what's best for the fans and the franchise. I hate to get political, but does Aquilini sound like Trump with the way he deals with the media?
This is the exact reason sports media gets so thoroughly captured by the teams they cover. When teams punish journalist for doing real journalism, it makes the media that covers them skew towards boot licking. This is essentially blacklisting someone. Do you think somewhere like the province or any other larger media outlets are ever going to hire a guy who can't even go to the games to get interviews. You know what though, good on Beggs for standing up for workers.
Just one of the many reasons I have totally dropped the Canucks this year after being a fan for nearly 40 years. I have just about cut ties with the NHL altogether. PWHL and the Goldeneyes are the way for me now.
Aquilini is a Globalist thug. BC is bankrupt anyway, on the way to one big beautiful dumpster fire.
Canucks need to hire Bieksa as an adviser
So let him take away ALL press passes. Stop covering them completely.
