He needs to be in the MLB at SS playing for us right now and not wasting away in triple A as the major league team suffers with bums like triolo. Even at his worst griffin would be one of the best players on this roster from day 1 and it's a joke that we're keeping him down for service time manipulation. EXTEND HIM AND CALL HIM UP!!!

  1. You can’t tell me with a straight face that griffin wouldn’t of helped in a game like this where we couldn’t score a lick. A speed demon with massive power and on base ability. Stop being cheap and pay him what he wants and call him up!!

  2. I don’t know if you watched spring training at all if you think that Griffin “would be one of the best players on this roster from day 1”. He clearly looked overmatched in spring training and ended spring training with some absolutely dreadful performances against MLB arms.

I also think it’s completely bizarre that this subreddit hyperfixates on Triolo as the problem on the roster. The team went 2 for 18 with RISP with Gonzales, Ozuna (he was egregious today), Mangum and Reynolds especially missing out on some prime opportunities. Why is Triolo the problem there?

  3. Did anyone see him in spring training or are we just going off vibes? He’ll be good but there are serious holes that need to be fixed before we throw him out there against major league pitching every day.

  4. I’m sure he’s dieing to lock himself to this organization for 10 years after watching these 2 games

  5. When have spring training numbers ever been relevant? The dude struggles picking up spin and will get K’d up in the bigs. He’s 19, just let him cook in AAA. He’s either ready or he’s not and our scouting department has been pretty damn good lately. Talking heads and doomers are the only ones that care

  6. Apparently there was never any negotiation of contract extension per mark madden on the most trusted pirates reporter I forget the name

  7. It takes two willing participants.

Given the kind of money you can get on the open market, if a player wants to bet on themselves they would tell their agent to say no and wait for FA

It’s certainly not without risk, but it’s plausible.

  8. Kind of a slap in the face to extend a 19 yr old prospect who showed holes in his game but not our Cy Young winning ace. Just saying.
