Hagel Is absolutely not the next captain. You need someone levelheaded. Point would be next, but unless the Hedman absence is very very long term it’s him for several years.
Remember how well someone is playing doesn’t define a good captain.

Nope. He’s too emotional. He’s not captain material.
He’s gotta get the way he interacts with the officials under control a bit. He’s the only player I can recall getting called for abuse of officials multiple times. Can’t have that from your captain. Cirelli feels more like captain material to me

Why not Guentzel?
He needs a few more years to lead with his head and not let his emotions take over, I can see him get there. It’s more fun to have a feisty captain! Plus he’s better with the interviewers than several of the other guys.
Maybe Guentz or Cirelli?
Point is overly quiet, not sure how he is off the ice though (definitely one of the more private guys on the team).

Guentzel is the best next option imo. Veteran that’s got years left with us, knows how to win, has the respect of his teammates, and scores lots.

I noticed today that Hagel has really improved his interviews. Very impressive.
Can we stop talking about this like Hedman is dead? He’s under contract for 3 more years and it’s entirely possible the names getting bandied about right now aren’t even on the team in 2030.
I think it would be a fun captain. A captain who will fight for the team and the other players is important
