  1. The ABS is kinda fun haha. Like when you get the challenge in your favor after the ball barely nicks the strike zone it’s entertaining. Maybe soon I’ll hate it and it’s just the novelty but when Hesley challenges that tonight and gets the call, pretty awesome

  2. Sadly, Cowser doesn’t seem to have fixed his hitting problems from last year. I think we’re going to start seeing less and less of him as the season proceeds.

  3. If Cowser is more of what he was last year at the plate, as opposed to when he flashed as a rookie, then I'd take anyone who can hit and play average CF. Cowser is only an average CF, so if Beaver's can play decent defense out there, he looks like a better hitter overall, has a great eye and is starting to show he can hit in the clutch.
Maybe Blaze and Beavers get games out there if Cowser doesn't find something at the plate.

  4. Awesome to hear Romos & Kowar BOTH made it through (didn't expect that)!

I was at Checkerspot and the audio and echo were rough. Love the idea to do it there and hope you do it again, even earlier for those who are going to the game to be able to be there for longer. Just maybe need to work on the audio for those in the space and definitely for recording. Tried to listen back to the On The Verge pod and you just couldn't hear anything but an echo.
Love the idea though and hope you don't again sometime 👍

  5. Beavers bat and defense is superior to Cowser,s combo. I’m good with him until proven wrong. Cowser needs to reset inAAA when they need a roster spot.

  6. I think that Wells will eventually be your 6th or 7th inning arm when Kittridge comes back. I'm not worried about him. Overall, we'll take the Series Win. Let's go O's! Let's go Jeremiah Jackson!!

  7. How about the ump trying to give the twins a walk in the 9th after two legitimate strikes? That’s why you save your challenges. ABS is my MVP of the game.

  8. Sam Huff also has made his way to the Norfolk Tides roster although I can't find any transaction listing online to verify when this happened, but he was on the team this weekend so glad to see we were able to hold onto another catcher. The ABS system is going to get quite the workout this season and just from this first weekend it is in my opinion making the games a bit longer. Over the past 5 years the league has made changes to increase the pace of play to attract non-baseball fans but this change is going to go against that trend. Wait until we have a game with 15 ABS challenges or 20, it is going to happen with some of these umps who struggle with a consistent strike zone. The most promising thing for me this first series was to see the team make adjustments on Sunday to address the ridiculous amount of strikeouts on Saturday. I hope this was orchestrated from Albie and I hope the team will continue to be aware of mistakes and take action quickly to avoid repeating them game after game.

  9. I don't really mind giving Beavers the shot in CF. If the guy is going to hit, I would find a way to work him into the lineup more often. I have high expectations for Cowser, but at this point you know to be our everyday CF. I want to see that his injury last year was the reason that he struggled at the plate, and not his propensity for not knowing how to hit off speed pitches. The competition between Hays and Mullins years ago made them both into better players. Maybe the same will be true with Cowser and Beavers.

  10. Any extra thoughts on the impact of ABS on Sunday? You mentioned the Gunnar walk since Twins couldn't challenge, but 5/6 on ABS for a run difference of 2.1 is game-winning. Quite impressed!
