They need to do the opposite of whatever that bald schmuck defecto GM thinks
Bengals don't know how to draft especially in 1st round, Burrow and Chase were no brainer but others were mostly crap picks recently from Cedric, Billy, Jonah, Dax, Myles, Shemar all underperformed
Best. Available. Defensive. Player.
I agree to a certain extent. I wouldn’t let J Love go past me but defense (Not saying a position) should be the number 1 priority. Not because our defense was horrid but because we didn’t do enough in free agency for our defense.
I agree – draft the player
We NEED so much that position really never should have been a consideration. Let’s just make sure we get a guy.
You could draft a pretty good defensive player and still have a bad defense or you could draft an offensive player who ends up being a generational talent and potentially have a really nice year. It really just depends on the guy.
This process is fun but drags out too long. At a minimum draft should be Thursday after the Masters
Cheapo Nepos gonna screw it up for sure. They'll probably pass on Downs for one of the corners.
Same ownership passed on Marshall faulk for big mommy in 94..then used one his trade picks acquired in 98 to pass on randy moss TWICE for spikes and Simmons. Way better rookie combo then knight/Carter..but NOT RANDY MOSS!
Best player available is what they should do, but that is not what they do. Year in and year out they fill needs no matter the position. Then they use a wasted pick on someone like J. Burton. They simply are not good at their job. Look at their free agency strategy. Look at the way they do contracts. Their way is the wrong way. Their way puts the team at a disadvantage. It's a sad state of affairs.
Doesn't "draft player not position" just mean BPA?
Draft production over potential
The only problem is that the bengals literaly draft positions not players
Normally I'm all about BPA in the draft and fill needs by FA. However, we need a difference-maker on D with that #10 pick. It's too high of a pick to use on a luxury pick on Offense. After that, I'm good with BPA the rest of the draft. The only Offensive pick I would make there was if there were an elite LT, which there doesn't appear to be. The tackles that look like they are getting picked early in rd 1 are RTs. #10 should be an immediate starter. I think only Love would fit that bill on Offense for us but #10 is kinda high for a RB, especially when you already have a good one.
James i 100 percent agree with you i hope duke katie and Troy feel the same way also mike is not persuaded to reach and force it
Miles is a bust for draft position
Lemon over Tate
If we lucky and ty Simpson goes b4 us… Bengals will get 1 of the 5 def players worth taking that high. Also a tackle there would be nice. There r 2 that grade in top 10
Its like if loves there. Probably should take best rb over 5th best defense guy. Maybe…😂
Id take Sidik over Stowers.
Mccoy is worth the 10 pick. But no corners. We need front 7 help way more. And if 1 of the 4 is here jump. And then Downs
If it is a legit starting OT – I would be good with that….because I question Orlando Brown Jr..
The Bengals don't believe in that. Players over positions. We've watched them for decades, we know they don't believe in that
It's freaking hilarious we do this every year. All the podcasts and fans beg the Bengals to draft bpa and they draft strictly needs. every time. Prepare to be disappointed. Unless Caleb downs or Ruben bain falls in their lap
They should trade up to get Sonny styles period they say that they are all in this is how u prove it who dey
I agree with your approach. If they had done that last year we would currently have Jahaad Campbell at LB and probably Tate Ratledge at guard. Unfortunately the Bengals don't operate that way. In an ideal world, they would simply draft the best player regardless of position. if they were to draft Mauigoa he would probably sit for a year. The line would be better in the future. If they draft Love or Tate, the offense will go to another level. But unless they have massive hits in RDS 2-4 they defense will be better but will it be good enough? The problem is and always has been that the FO hasn't set the team up in such a way that they can go strictly BPA at 10 and are stuck with the drafting for needs system. They could have done that this year if they had been more aggressive in FA but they didn't. Unless they have some master post-draft FA plan they are stuck in the drafting for needs mode. Its a poor way of doing things and inconsistent.
They can’t possibly mess up the first round. Just take best defensive player on the board. Last resort is delane as I’m pretty sure he’ll be there. Take delane if downs, Sonny styles, Reuben Bain are all gone. Just take any of those 4 with delane last
I understand that you don’t want to reach based on need, but BPA is not a realistic approach. You going to draft 7 consecutive linebackers because each was the “best player” available at that pick? That would be destructive to your team.
Plus, the Bengals have already admitted that they have tiers/buckets they place players in.
I’d be in on an offensive player in the first round ONLY if we traded back. But even then, with players like Thieneman and Mesidor possibly falling to the mid-to-late teens, there may still be opportunities to add impact defensive players after pick 10.
Now, if you traded back to the mid 20’s and Omar Cooper Jr. is still sitting there… Sorry Yoshi. You’re going to be WR4 for a while. 😅
BPA – BPA – BPA – BPA every round. Every draft. Draft for just quality and use FA for need. The Bengals have three standout players. Burrow, Tee and Chase. All BPAs. Reaching for need kills teams. If Love is what falls draft him. I would trade up for quality before I would trade down for more lesser quality. Hits are hits but great is better.
It’s both insanely scary and frustrating not be able to trust this front office with a draft pick that isn’t a no brainer top 5 pick… but I’ll remain positive. They’ll get it right at 10 this year 🤞🏼 who dey!!
Make sure the Bengals org sees this video. Cuz if they don't they will make a mistake 😢😢😭😭
If they draft the right players, they will win.
So if the best player in every round is an edge then there's a problem James.
"Simple and easy are two different things." — James Rapien
The front office sucks? Only 6 teams have been to the playoffs more times than the Bengals in the last 20 years.
This is the dumbest thing I’ve heard in a while.
Always take the best player available. Always.
