I don't understand the idea behind hiring maybe the singular only NHL coach more unlikable behind the scenes than Bruce already was. Over a third of the 93 players polled for this voted Tortorella as the guy they'd least like to play for.

If the issue is Bruce Cassidy lost the locker room for being a hard-ass who makes guys take accountability and is otherwise difficult to work with, how do you being in the one guy with an even bigger reputation for being exactly that?

  1. Just knocking them out one by one. I guess by process of elimination, we are gonna hire Babcock for next season!?

  2. Isn’t the deal with Torts just for the remainder of this season plus playoffs? Not like they had a ton of good options to choose from for this interim role.

Hoping that means they will cast a wider net in the off season once other coaches become available.

  3. Pretty sure Cassidy and Torts are different kinds of hard ass. Torts is more of a straight shooter and everyone will know where they stand/what he wants from them, but Cassidy is not as straightforward.

  4. “you don’t like playing for Cassidy, huh?”

But imagine the built in motivation for the next coach:

“Play your ass off or you get Torts again”

  5. Who else is available right now? We have a lot of veterans, we should give someone new a chance

  6. Anyone have any knowledge on who on the current roster has played for Torts? Is it just Karlsson, Saad, and Hart?
