Patrick Mahomes is TERRIBLE at throwing deep… or is he?

1. What you people aren't taking into consideration is that they didn't have time to throw deep because the offensive line was not giving him time to throw. With a better line, Pat will br fine.

4. Mahomes used to under throw deep passes and risk the interception and now he errs an overthrowing them. He needs to go back to risking it more

5. Mahomes is barely fair at the deep ball and worthy is just fare at tracking it. Tyrec was exceptional at tracking the ball. Mahomes doesn’t put enough arc on the deep ball and doesn’t lay it out to where the receiver can run under it.

6. Tyreek did complain about Mahomes not putting it in the bread basket, I think Mahomes accuracy unfortunately is an issue.

10. Mahomes has the yips. He's aiming the ball instead of just letting it rip. I used to play a lot of billiards, when you're in the zone you just shoot, when you're struggling you start aiming and that only makes things worse. The body and eyes know how to execute, just don't overthink it. He needs to trust himself and start having fun again.

11. I think he was conditioned not to throw deep ball often these last few years because of the receivers he had . Maybe he's been hesitant because no one has stepped up to catch. Now he has a few weapons and needs to reacclimate.

12. So he doesn't suck at throwing the deep ball. The problem is him not sticking to his mechanics because he is always improvising and on the run. He has to get back to stopping and setting his feet and driving the ball. I swear after his like the 5th season or so he started taking zip off the ball and I really believe someone told him to stop throwing the ball so hard. If you look at film I believe it was either the last year with Hill or the year after he stopped throwing the ball with so much power. Also if I remember correctly that was on Worthy's draft profile that he struggled with ball tracking.

18. I think we’re used to Tyreek's ability to be anywhere. Worthy stepped up when we needed him, and I don’t think we knew how injured he really was. I think this season will be really good for him.

19. I agree that Tyreek Hill made him look way better. I think Mahomes also was way more used to throwing the deep ball with the Legion of Zoom. He's out of practice.

21. I blame the coaching in the past couple of years. You have receivers running backwards after catch, and receivers gave up on the route. Feels like it was so bad to the point Patty hestitated to risk deep balls.

22. Mahomes has to move early and reset to throw which makes him late. Its a blocking problem and a lack of recievers that get open early.

23. I’ve been saying this for 2 to 3 years now. Pat has been so good throwing the underneath stuff that his deep ball accuracy came down a bit. He is either under throwing it or flat out missing the WR.
    Yes Tyquan caught some but be honest how many times did he have to slow down before catching it?
    Tyreek was so good at tracking the ball that we didn’t closely pay attention but the one thing Pat hasn’t been consistent at is throwing the deep ball ACCURATELY and in stride.

24. It's a combination of both..he doesn't trust worthy to go after the ball. That's what Tyreek is best at.. adjusting and wanting it more than the other guy. Tyquan is better at tracking than Worthy.

31. Worthy 100%, I’ve seen worthy be 5 yards from the sideline and still catch it OOB

36. Patrick is less accurate each year. In 2018 he threw a lot of long balls with success. Defenses changed the way they played us but the majority of Patrick’s long balls hit the ground. Maybe his footwork is poor. He needs to put the work in and improve or just throw ten yard passes.

37. I know that everyone has their own opinions but come on people.. why all this hating about Mahomes??? Mahomes last few years has been always running for his life. 38. Worthy getting stuck in gadget mentality. Thornton had success in his little role cuz his role was go deep. Which I loved and he did well

43. Mahomes was better before the O-line issues, he was much more comfortable in the pocket. If you watched his entire college career like I did, you would see he was ELITE at throwing the ball way down the field. With Tyreek and before the Matt Nagy system, he was also definitely great – if not elite – at the long ball. Problem is – you need receivers that can seperate consistently, and an O-line that can pass protect….as well as a system designed for it (hopefully Bienemy being back will help that). I think he can be elite again at the long ball. He's still only 30
