  1. BEAR TF DOWN!

Mailbag: How do you think the game of the UofA starters translates to the league? I feel it is inevitable that Burries, Koa Peat, and Mo Krivas all get picked in the first (potentially late second for Krivas, although I think he should go in the first) round, and it seems likely guys like Kharchekov and Aristode will get some buzz within the next two years. Burries has gotten the Dbook comparison a lot, but I like comparisons that take into account his defensive floor out of college (he hasn't been too much of an on-ball guy, so I prefer comparisons to guys like Aaron Nesmith with a potential ceiling of dbook). I can't help but see Koa as a different iteration of UofA Aaron Gordon, one that is not quite as athletic but has a slightly more refined midrange game compared to what AG had out of college, primarily because of his high floor as a backline defender and lob threat. Krivas has such an amazing touch around the rim and shoots 80% from ft range, so maybe a ceiling of Brook Lopez? I am clearly biased but I have so much faith in these guys to succeed at the next level, would love to hear your thoughts.

  2. I dont get Doncic clearly over Jokic. So Doncic didnt have a great start to the season whereas Jokic did. Doncic better post allstar and Jokic not as good. So ehy is it clear that doncic is a better candidate? Not only that, Jokic has been back the past5-10ish games

  3. Jason we have a split in our domestic football (soccer) league, I’m Scottish by the way, that we brought in to prevent meaninglessness end of season games and it’s been a great so I love your idea. What about going a step further and with expansion in mind creating two divisions and having promotion and relegation. You could still have playoffs at the end of the season to see who’s staying up and going down.

  4. New schedule: Play every team once, 29 games. Play everyone in your division home and away to determine division champ, 4 additional games. That’s 33 games . Then all-star game and sort the winners and losers tiers.
Top eight of both Eastern and Western Conference in winners tier. Seven teams in Eastern and Western Conference, for losers.
Play twice home and away in conference, 28 games for winners. Play home and away once opposing conference, 14 games for winners. Then top two in each losers conference makes the playoffs.
Thats 77 games, it’d be a small reduction to ease wear and tear but you gain the number of competitive matches.

  5. So we're just gonna pretend like Jokic is not leading the league in both REBOUNDS and ASSISTS – which has NEVER ever been done in the entire history of the NBA? While his team is top 4 in the West?
He might not be the overwhelming favorite (due to the injury), but to claim he is somehow a distant 4th in the MVP race is just malpractice.

  6. You usually have solid takes…..but how do u wake up and say wimby averaging under 25 deserves mvp over luka damn near average 30 with 6 assists and 6 rebounds? I think ur playing too heavy into team success versus how valuable these players are to their team…. The only person I can understand luka losing to is shai other than that nobody who watches basketball should think wimby is winning. He still doesn’t know how to consistently take over games and put his team on his back.

  7. I disagree with your issue on assists, if a player gives the ball to another player, whether he had to do a dribble move, just pull up, do a head fake or whatever it is still an assist. If the original player never passed the ball to the next guy then the bucket doesn't happen regardless. Idk why be so passionate about counting assists "right" when by definition the way it is now is how it should be based on movement of the ball alone anything after the pass doesn't matter because the pass itself was the assist

  8. There need to be tournament for the lottery teams to get the number 1 pick. I think the team closest to becoming decent deserve the number 1 pick that completely fix tanking

  9. Let’s go Arizona and Nuggets!
Wife played VolleyBall for UofA, Dad played golf, and her aunt played and coached softball, then went on to become interim AD after Jim Livengood and before Greg Byrne!

  10. You should have proper regulation and drop league's until a team is that bad they go into administration. I love American culture I really do I've been affected by it since the 1980s I love the music I love sports the fashion the American culture is great but it has always perplexed me that The USA home of Capitalism, The American dream, the free market, Movie Stars and a culture of excellence. Has a system in sport that Is literally Communist with a element of a race to the bottom. Why is that? In the UK which is a far more socialist country, our sporting system is brutal, but super exciting you lose you die end of discussion. We have Soccer teams that's cease to exist every year because they don't win enough. Great show as always really informative really interesting perspectives keep up the good work

  11. He is 2nd in +/-, so he should get the MVP… Who is 1st? 🙂 I agree it is fine to call BS on assists Jokic has, but it is also BS what SGA does with his foul baiting as it impacts his stats a lot and never heard that mentioned here – quite the contrary

  12. Jason, as a Jokic fan l can tell you this. What you say about fixing asists, we actually agree wirh you. Lets make it what it uses to be, puting your teammate in solid position to score. Why do you think this would only affect Jokic? Believe me, if he was a statpadder he could easily average 10 of those new assist. And one more thing, when talking about MVP why are you comparing Jokic only to Luka? Why dont you compare him to Wemby or Sga? Sga was also hurt and absent for a while, basically most players paused this year because of some injury. You dont watch denvers games, if you did last night, you would comment and say what an amasing game Joker had without his stats going of the roof. He basically took over the game and solves the winner in 3rd q. Yes he was injured, yes he struggled after return but that is no longer the case. Hes back to himself, being the best player in the league. I honestly did not expect for you to fall under the influence of Wemby mediamania. As Joker fan for now (because these last games will matter basically for each team and odds can change) my MVP candidates are as follows:
    1. Sga
    2. Luka
    3. Jokic
    4. Wemby
    5. Brown

  13. Mailbag- Do you think Giannis could move over to becoming a full time Center ? I feel like if he bought in and accepted that roll he would open up ways more contending opportunities in a trade somewhere instead of searching for the “perfect stretch big” to play next to in my opinion. I think he could do it Would love to hear your take on this idea of mine. love the show !

  14. Don’t agree that the gap between Luka and Jokic should be this big. What u are implying is that the post AG games count more than the pre AG games. Due to tanking and other issues, you can actually argue that the opposite is true

  15. Hornets fan here, I know I'm biased. But I felt we got a very similar shot quality to the celtics in that game. Our 4 best shooters all shot under 25 percent from three, while Tatum and Pritchard were on fire the whole game. Obviously they're great shot-makers, put the hornets have been too. The shot making had been equal, I think it would have been a close game

  16. I appreciate that duke lost that game after fouling up 3 with 10 sec left

You can call it "the smart thing to do" all you want, its a lame way to end a game to me, so its nice to see it backfire once again for someone

  17. Don't complain about "stans" when you are one of the biggest LeBron stans out there and get offended every time someone criticise him 🤦🏻

  18. Dan Hurley is completely stupid about his take that "we've gotten soft in a lot of ways with trying to develop young people". He wants a world of aggressiveness and force which is fading, and that is a good thing. Except for the arrogant person like Hurley who wants to be dominate others.

  19. What a ridiculous take about Giannis MVP in 2020. He was rightfully the MVP. Lebron was not better in the regular season. Lebron was not even better than Harden in the regular season.

  20. Mailbag:

This isn't a question, just something I hope gets read to you. It's because of your videos/streams I love basketball. Over the years it sounds like the twitter discourse has embittered you. My advice would be to stop reading twitter (or have someone stay in touch for you). Ik you love the game, and I'm cheering you on

  21. If prime AD couldn't be considered for MVP there is no way you can make the case for Wemby. Spurs are 10-5 without him and when AD missed games the Lakers they would lose most of them. AD was a much better offensive player and defensively way better in switches on the perimeter. People just like Wemby so they want to prop him up of course his plus minus is good the Spurs are a top team with or without him on the court.

  22. MAILBAG:
Hey Jason, another year another disappointing Orlando season. As a fan of Paolo, Franz & Bane individually I've tried my best to get behind the Magic but I'm now convinced the team found a black hole in Florida where offense goes to die. To me, Orlando needed either Franz or Paolo to morph into a genuine point-forward if they weren't going to invest in a floor general, and I haven't seen anything to suggest that will eventuate (granted injuries have again crippled their chemistry). The Bane trade was smart, but now they are stuck with 4 massive contracts with Anthony Black going to ask for 25m+ for his extension. My question is: what's the move for Orlando to resume their upward trajectory? It seems a coaching change is inevitable, but do you look to move off Franz and/or Suggs? Both now have serious injury red flags so their value is suspect, plus I'm not even sure what player archetype you're looking to replace them with. Thanks as always for your content
