For a while, Tari Eason lost himself.

He started the season on a hot streak from three and turned into a high-volume sharpshooter. Coaches and teammates encouraged the forward to fire from deep on a Houston Rockets team lacking shooting threats. But when regression arrived, it did so with a fury that left the 24-year-old in disarray.

Visible indecision marked Eason’s movements. A player who thrived off tenacity too often applied it after a moment’s hesitation, leading to reckless and ineffective play. A team meeting in Memphis helped the forward re-center, leading to a pair of productive outings and perhaps, a return to form ahead of the postseason.

“We got everything out [in the meeting] and understood what expectations are,” Eason said Sunday after the Rockets blew out the Pelicans. He scored 15 points, his most since Feb. 7. “Guys just told me: We need you.”

“[We] attacked him,” joked teammate Alperen Şengün, who sat in the visitors locker room in New Orleans with his arm draped around Eason.
