  1. Roki found a third pitch that works and could solidify himself as something this season

    Nothing else matters

Stop waiting until the final three innings to come alive with the offense

  2. It’s been a long time since I’ve watched the Dodgers lose a game.

Still on pace for 121.5 wins!

  3. Big Panda made the call they don’t want to give away any plates tomorrow and our offense was happy to follow orders.

  4. While the offense really was dead up until the very end, wrobleski definitely blew it by getting a walk when he had the count at 0-2 there

  5. If you told me we would lose but Roki would look like this I would take it in a heartbeat.

  6. Really impressed with Rokis improvement since his spring showing, still a bit to go in terms of control but he’s getting there.

That’s about all I can take away from this game…

  7. Proud of Roki today, he just needs to get that sinker down and he’ll be great.

  8. Got unlucky with the BABiP. Roki gave us a chance, but Wrobo melted down before we could take advantage of it. Not the worst loss. Let’s win the next two and take the series.

  9. Can the offense score some runs before it hits 8 innings thanks

  10. Bats gotta wake up before the bottom of the 9th. Top of the order needs to start doing real damage. Still the best team in baseball.

  11. Roki kept it a 1 run game. He’s fine.

He’s getting the old Yamamoto treatment.

  12. On the plus side Roki looked good, Tanner Scott looked good, and Wrobleski saved the bullpen.

There were lots of errors on defense tonight and the offense didn’t really show up.

  13. Slow start from our first 5 batters. But they will definitely heat up soon

  14. Rojas getting picked off at 2nd was deflating. Looked like a rally was brewing that inning

  15. Little brother works at PE and is devastated cause he was looking forward to the extra hours tomorrow and now has the day off lol

  16. Tanner Scott looking good to start the season is genuinely huge for this team

  17. Reposting from the Game Thread

This is a great outing from Roki. It’s not a finished product, but there are good signs and things to work on.

    The good:

He came out with fastball sitting 99-100

    The splitter remains excellent

The new “cutter” (which moves like a power curve and sits about 86-88) looks at least league average and he has good command. At times he had better control with it than either other offering

    The stuff to work on:

His fastball velocity declined over the outing and in the end he was more 96-97, which is too slow given how flat his fastball is

Control is still very rough. He leaks arm side with the fastball a lot, he yanks the ball to the glove side sometimes as he’s compensating. It was better but still a long way to go

The splitter felt particularly wild. He can get away with this a bit because it’s such a good pitch and hitters don’t see it well so they chase, but to hit a better form he needs to spot it

Overall I’m very happy. This is a huge step in the right direction.

  18. Obviously you can’t win them all…..but can we try to not keep falling behind 0-2 like every game? I know we’re supposed to have a loaded lineup, but playing from behind all the time isn’t a great recipe.

  19. Positives: Roki looked better than expected. Tanner Scott looked great. Mookie with a couple of nice rips. Death Star not fully operational and team still showed fight in the end. Wrobo bounceback after giving up 3.

Negatives: Very questionable takes on fastballs in the zone during late innings (Freeman and Muncy) when Guardian pitchers were simply not giving up walks this game. Wrobo’s approach after getting an 0-2 count on Hoskins.

  20. Offense needed to show up earlier. Roki did well. Rojas getting picked off was a momentum killer because that could have been a great inning.

Not much to complain about except offense needs to wake up earlier
