Demeco on CJ

  1. I mean we’ve seen the highs and lows of CJ. And honestly the lows have been to mismanagement of this roster.

This is a make or break year for CJ IMO, that extension is coming up and that QB if given to the wrong person can cripple a franchise.

  2. I’d rather CJ was our qb than anybody else. All I want for Christmas is CJ going tf off and proving everyone wrong

  3. I’m just glad we’ve actually invested in protecting him and got Montgomery at this point, so we can stop waffling between it being his fault or the line’s fault or the run game’s fault or whatever. If he fails now, that’s at least actionable information.

  4. Regardless of how he’s played CJ’s work ethic has never seemed to be the issue. Hopefully it translates to improvements this season.

  5. No pressure CJ. But if you mess up this year then you will probably be out of a starting job.

  6. We should’ve invested in OL early. CJ has so many excuses going for him. If we had a decent OL we know it’s CJ’s fault for being ass

  7. CJ ain’t that generational, future HoFer, we were all hoping for… and that’s ok. We don’t need him to be. He has the skills to be a very good QB that can lead this team to a Super Bowl.

“How?” you ask? We need to invest more in the offense, give him some help, make his job easier so that we don’t expect him to be Super Man.

Yes, he was shitty in that NE playoff game. But honestly ask yourself, how much help did he have? His best receiver, and honestly our best offensive player, was out for the game. He lost the 2nd best receiver on the team (Dalton) early in the game. We were already down one starter on a shaky OL, then we lost possibly our best OL as well early in the game. It was snowing and we were having difficulty running the ball. CJ tried to be Super Man, but that’s simply not his game unfortunately.

This offseason, we made some decent moves to improve the offense. Hopefully it works out, but honestly speaking, I was hoping for more.

    – David Montgomery is a solid back, definitely an upgrade from Woody, but you’re expecting too much if you’re hoping he solves the running game. He’s not an elite runner that can succeed behind any OL, I don’t even think he’s at Joe Mixon’s level.

    – The OL is wait and see for me. We lost Tytus, but gained Wyatt and Braden. We got two talented players on the cheap. Were they cheap for a reason? Or is Nick just smarter than everyone else? Hopefully it’s the latter. I expect them to be better than last season, but I don’t know about leaps & bounds better. I’ll easily take average at this point.

    – No changes at the receiver group, except letting Kirk go and hoping Tank returns “as Tank”. There’s some potential in the group, but I’m still worried we are relying ALOT on Nico… a guy that is known to miss a few games every season.

We still have the draft. I’m really hoping we go offense heavy. We need a TE that can do both catch & block, not just one or the other. We need more OL depth, and not put all of our stock in Wyatt, Braden and whoever we have play C. Maybe it’s asking for too much, but we need another playmaker on this offense. Right now, it’s Nico and that’s it. If he’s out of the game, there’s really no one on the offensive side of the ball that scares a defense.

I’ve rambled on for too long… but what I’m basically trying to say is I’m tired of Nick hoping CJ turns into Super Man. Actually invest in the offense!!!
