Damn, would be a great hire for them.
Those idiots are going to pick Chris Pronger. The fix is in. Pronger was invisible then all of the sudden, he’s all over the media. That seems to me MLSE pre-loading the fan base for Pronger to come in.
Uhhh can we get Gillis back instead?
Mike Gillis is a fantastic GM. This would be huge for Toronto. I would love to have Gillis and Gilman back with the Canucks.
I would be happy for Mike but still hope the Leafs lose.
Yeah he’d be an excellent choice. His leaked organizational structure from a couple years ago is a perfect fit for a team with the Leafs’ resources. I’d expect he’d take the POHO position under that structure. I’d be excited to see what he can do.
I wonder why he hasn’t been able to land anything since he departed here
The Aquilini whisperer.
He was the only one who could tell them no, and the team was better for it.
Until he couldn’t, and then he was gone.
If only they listened to him all those years ago.
We could have avoided the last 15 years of misery.
As a Canucks fan, I’d love it if you hire him and he leads you to a Cup (b/c my need to see a big fuck you to FAQ far surpasses my hate for the Leafs).
That was a long time ago now but he was a really progressive and very astute GM (but his draft record was poor but you guys have a great scouting staff so it shouldn’t matter).
How he has remained unemployed has a lot more to do with politics than anything else. He made no bones about FAQ being a dipshit owner and he’s been blackballed ever since.
The most Canucks thing ever would be Gillis going to Toronto as GM and then winning the draft lottery. I may become a Leafs fan at that point. Nothing left to do.
Edit: most *Canucks* thing ever
Fuck me man!!!!! I want him here in van
If Gillis is hired in Toronto, that would effectively prove that Pelley is deliberately sabotaging the Leafs.
Next.
Choose Benning you cowards
The Canucks are going nowhere so long as the current ownership family remains in place, and so long as they remain without a dedicated practice facility.
Firing Rutherford, Allvin, and Foote are probably necessary moves, but still wouldn’t fix the two key problems highlighted above.
Next.
Mike Gillis, who hasn’t worked in the NHL in 12 years, isn’t a candidate for anything. This engagement bait is typical for Robinson – he doesn’t actually state anything as fact. He’s just putting the idea out there because he knows it will do numbers.
That’s interesting. Gillis wanted to rebuild, and was denied. The leafs are in a similar situation where the mix of players just doesn’t work. Is he able to convince MLSE to ship Matthew’s, Reilly, and nylander to rebuild?
Ahhh brings me back to the good old days of the nucks. Where winning a divison title each year was a given, good vibes, and at least winning a round in the playoffs.
This would be a great hire. I wouldn’t have thought he’d take the job without full autonomy but maybe he’s itching to get back in the game.
Gillis would be one of the greatest GMs of all time if he figured out how to amateur scout.
League better watch out if he figured it out.
surprised at the love for him here , i never seen so much love for a former gm. i mean i love dubas but still
