Tampa Bay Lightning coach Jon Cooper today on Habs captain Nick Suzuki: “He’s damn near got 100 points doesn’t he? That’s not easy to do, and he just seems to do it easily, so good on him. He was a fabulous kid (to coach on Team Canada), I loved him.”

Shoulda played him more than 10 minutes in the gold medal game, but whatev

I love that Jon cooper is a Suzuki glazer Ik a lot of people will harp about his team Canada ice time and I agree he should’ve played more and been on the PP but it’s done and over with now idc anymore. I would like cooper alot more if he wasn’t part of the top 3 most traumatic experiences for me as a Habs fan
Should’ve played him in OT in the gold medal game then, coop
Dans les coulisses headline : “Jon Cooper mentions loving kids.”
The team gets a lot of praises this year which is cool, but Cooper is the one guy I genuinely love. He was flamed in this sub for his usage of Suzuki in the Olympics, but I can’t blame him with the quality that the team had, and it was an unlucky gold medal match at worst. Look what this guy did for Syracuse and Tampa. It’s not just the dispositional quality of players that achieved what they’ve achieved. He hasn’t won a Jack Adams yet, which is insane to think about. He seems to have that distinct intelligence, personality and traits that make players want to play for him.
“I know” – Nick Suzuki
Conspiracy theory 101 : he didn’t use him enough during the Olympics because he didn’t want Suzuki to gain momentum for the rest of the season. He knows the Habs are the real threat in the East !
/s of course.
Shoulda been on the ice in OT tho, Cooper.
His “oh shucks, I love my opponents” schtick is so annoying and I wish we would stop mentioning him here.
He misused Suzuki terribly ffs. Not even on the pp.
Great coach, great guy. God he’s unbearable
Didn’t love him enough to play him

This is how you deploy lines in a gold medal game. Frustrating to have put it al on a line that just was not scoring at all…
Wounds are open again lol
“Kid” he says. showing the disrespect
The best thing about him is… He doesn’t really have flaws. He’s just good at everything. Bergeron 2.0 comparisons don’t feel so crazy now. Obviously he’s still got a ways to go, but he’s absolutely on that trajectory.
Its his MO, praise opponents and make sure to give opposing teams no ammunition for motivation.
“It’s why I barely played him, and also played him out of position, and never let him see the PP.”
Take your empty praise elsewhere, and enjoy the shit kicking we are going to give you tonight.
I feel like I’m the only one who dislikes this smug prick. He knows exactly what he’s doing with these answers and I don’t believe half of it
Cooper is being his charming self again prior to a game. But he’s just shielding his team who is going to try to rip us a new one tonight. He always do that. Do not fall for his tricks. Tampa are dicks and do not deserve our respect.
Get this guy off team canada
Didn’t play him enough in the final game!
Don’t get buttered up by his comments. Best the living shit out of them then acknowledge the praise.
He loved his so much he didn’t give him no PP minutes.
Ah yes. The traditional Jon Cooper Suzuki pre-game compliment.
well maybe he should have been on the fucking powerplay then, eh bud?
He points out Habs still have players from 21 finals, saying they’re not that inexperienced.
Genius Arpon Basu says, no, not many.
There are six. 1/3 of the skaters
Suzuki
Caufield
Anderson
Gallagher
Danault
Evans
