  1. Doubled his points on better splits, hasnt lost a beat on defense despite his role and usage skyrocketing, bench guy to 2nd best defender and 2nd best offensive connector on a team 10 games over .500.

If he doesnt win throw the award out.

  2. Only person I could see maybe beating him is Jalen Duren. Except he’s younger, so…I feel like improvement is more expected? NAW’s growth is easily the most surprising on this list

  3. My opinions that no one asked for:

Jalen Duren is a stud. I like him. But he’s also a lottery pick in year 4 that has always been pretty solid.

Deni has been good for a couple seasons. I don’t get why he’s a MIP contender.

JJ makes sense as a MIP, but I think the biggest difference from last year to this year is just health + opportunity.

I like Ryan Rollins a lot as a MIP candidate. He came out of no where.

To me, this should be a 2 man race between NAW and Ryan Rollins. I get the award isn’t called “Most Surprising Player”, but for me that does play a part for me. If you told anyone that NAW wasn’t just going to be a starter, but he would also be averaging 20+ ppg while maintaining his efficiency. People would think that’s crazy. The dude’s in year 7 and has established a role for himself that no one would’ve expected.

So to me #1 and #2 are NAW and Ryan Rollins. Followed by guys like Queta and the guys on this list.
