RELAX: Cincinnati Reds Showed POSITIVE Signs in Blowout Loss to Pittsburgh Pirates

Cincinnati Reds look to shake off a tough loss on Tuesday but have Paul Skenes waiting on them Wednesday. What can Reds fans trust after Tuesday? The Reds saw key battles at the plate from Elly De La Cruz and Sal Stewart. Plenty of good from Brok Burke on the mound and Sam Moll. Early season losses can be annoying, but the Reds have plenty of talent to move forward.

Jeff and Steve break down whether the Reds’ pitching staff—featuring Rhett Lowder, Nick Lodolo, Brady Singer, and a surging bullpen—can carry the club through early adversity. The hosts debate what needs to change for the Reds to finally turn the NL Central tide.

  1. Hello guys. Disappointing, but it’s ok. They put themselves in a hole. They had opportunities. But they hit the ball, gave themselves a chance!!!!! Bunting needs to be used more. But it needs to be practiced. Bunting is a psychological weapon. Pulls defense up. It’s an underrated tool. But if you can bunt, it can help win games. Elly needs to learn to bunt.

  2. Really thought that they were going to begin a long winning streak earlier and run the table on those guys!Ways two many blows chances into this game with having based loaded overall😢

  3. Listen, the wins and losses count the same wherever they land in the season. so stop excusing these things with its early in the season.

it's true you can't win them all but last night was a ball game we should not have lost. Leaving so many on base and starting somebody who clearly should be in Louisville.

I don't like this copium of it's early in the season. Call things what they are

  4. Williamson was not good last night . But this is the third year in a row these same guys are starting the season offensively like they are comatose. Friedl, Stephenson, Elly, Mcclain, Steer, Marte all have once again started the season offensively terribly. The Reds have scored 15 runs in 5 games. This team just doesn't have it offensively. If I was Francona I would send down Marte and bring up Hinds.

  5. Weather is supposed to get crazy all afternoon so I have a feeling this game will be rescheduled for later, but, we will see soon. Go Reds! To miss Skenes would be nice lol

  6. Relax? The Reds strike out as a team at 38%. Over 5 games they strike out more than 1 time an inning!!!! That is insanely bad number. Valaika needs to be held accountable at some point.

  7. This won’t happen….but should!! Elly to CF, Steer to 2B and Hinds at one of the corner outfields and flip a coin on the other. Friedl’s failure to catch without sliding and still not throwing out the runner at home cost the Reds 5 runs.

  8. This team offensively is terrible with runners in scoring position and too many guys are looking to hit home runs instead of just putting the bat on the ball and get a single or sacrifice fly, anything but a strikeout.

  9. Last year you guys started keeping track of games that were just one of the 60 losses or was it a game that should have been won but waa lost. This is one of those games that was a loss.

  10. I said this for several times the Reds have to start winning games more consistently versus NL Central Division opponents in order to be a factor in the postseason picture because they are not going to make it with just 83 wins. The National League from top to bottom have improved overall. These games in early part of the season are as important as the games in September especially when head to head tiebreakers could be involved with intradivisonal records.Remember the Reds have not finished above third place in the NL Central since 2012,in which was the last time they won the Division title. You only play NL Central Division opponents 13 times during the regular season instead of 18 or 19 times so don't underestimate that is a time to make a statement about where they want the season to go.😮😮😮🎉🎉🎉😅😅😅

  11. I agree with a lot but cmon guys. Elly looks fine? It’s the same story with him over and over again. Stop defending bad at bats. That is unacceptable to do what he did with the bases loaded and swing at a pitch that bounced on the plate and he continues to do it.

  12. reds are trash…. They escape the sox, and will loss to the pathetic pirates, when are people going to accept that abbott is dogshit, how many games has to be lost in the first 3 innings for the mindless to finally say, "get rid of the bum"….

  13. TJ Friedi is pretty much the player the 2026 projections had him as.He is at his ceiling as he reaches his age 30 by the end of the season without any upside. He is at the bottom third of the MLB starting centerfielders because he has some limitations such as the ability to hit LHP,average range, below arm talent for a center fielder, and base stealing. The Reds have to start thinking about founding a long term solutions for their outfield for the future by indentify, drafting,,signing, and developing actual outfielders who have the right skill set to become quality players at all levels of the organization. When you look at the list of their top 30 prospects they don't have any outfielders in the top ten,but they have a surplus of middle infielders and right handed starting pitchers.I think that Nick Krall and the Reds braintrust have to address the short and long term needs at the position. Also besides Dunno the catching situation is very thin as well.😮😮😮😊😊😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉
