  1. Nick Pivetta with the redemption outing with 8K’s over 5 scoreless innings allowing only one hit??? Jackson Merrill with the two out single getting knocked in off the fielding error on Manny’s infield single to start the scoring??? Gavin Sheets continuing to wake up with the inning starting double advancing on Freddy Fermin’s infielder’s choice followed by Xander Bogaerts forcing a bad throw on the infield single driving in Gavin to make it 2-0??? Jeremiah Estrada mounting up first and shaking off the rocky start to the season with 2K’s on 13 pitches preserving the shutout??? Ramón with the rally starting infield single advancing on Jake’s infield single before getting knocked in by Gavin’s second double of the day to make it 3-0??? Morejon gritting through Luis Arraez’s inning starting double to keep the lead at 3-1 before securing the first 2 outs of the 8th before getting tagged out by Mason Miller for what we presumed would be a 4 out save but spoiler alert it’s April Fool’s Day??? Manny Machado kicking off the insurance rally with a double followed by Ramón rewarding fans (that’s right I’m crediting this subreddit) for pressuring Stammen into moving him up in the lineup with the 2 run homer followed by Jake and Gavin drawing back to back walks followed by Bryce Johnson walking to load the bases followed by Tatis freezing Chapman with the RBI infield single followed by Xander’s RBI walk to drive the lead to 7-1??? Mason Miller closing out the game anyways finishing with 3K’s over 1.1 innings to avoid the sweep and secure win number 2???

  2. 158-4 AMIRITE COMPADRES? GREATEST APRIL FOOLS JOKE EVER, OFFENSE SCORING MORE THAN 3 RUNS. IT WOULD BE HILARIOUS IF THEY DID IT AGAIN ON FRIDAY

  3. Kinda annoying that both our wins are followed by an off day. This team seems like it relies on momentum. And an off day kills that. Or maybe I’m reading too much into it.

  4. Nick kept us in and those two gifted runs in the beginning were a godsend. Batters managed to really pick it up near the end and the BP was flawless. Hope things turn around for us after today

  5. Great game Nicky P came back and had 5 scoreless innings. Offense was able to make more than 3 runs and bullpen held it together. Not an Ideal homestand but better than being sweeped.

  6. A W is a W, and if it is what was needed to lift the spirits in that clubhouse I’m going to take it any day of the week.

But I am personally not going to look past the fact that 2 runs were gifted by the defense and we scored our ER (bar 1) on a single pitcher that threw 70% of his pitches for balls.

On to Boston! Up from here! LFGSD!!

  7. This team decides to pour it on when it doesn’t matter. Where was this slug the last week?

  8. Aggressive small ball.

    Better at bats.

    Pivetta dialed in.

    1.1IP Sv.

    Gorgeous day at the park

    Yesssssss

  9. So is this going to be another season where we’re better on the road and during the day or something?

  10. Why does it say Mason Miller got the save? Wouldn’t the Padres need to be ahead by 3 or less runs?

Edit: A.I. helped me. It’s because: **the Padres’ 4-run 8th inning happened while Miller was already in the game or just before**, meaning when he entered, the lead was much smaller than 6 runs, potentially qualifying under the “lead of 3 runs or fewer” condition.
