The Orlando Magic are one of the most disappointing teams in the NBA this season with Paolo Banchero not taking a leap, Franz Wagner injured, and Desmond Bane not saving this team from playing bad basketball. Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have been amazing behind Jalen Johnson and Nickeil Alexander-Walker with Jonathan Kuminga playing well since coming over from the Golden State Warriors at the NBA Trade Deadline. They’re trending different ways with the NBA Playoffs right around the corner and it says a lot about them.

  9. Hawks will have way more success with Jalen Johnson . He's just really good at almost everything on the court and with a player like that its way easier to build a championship roster around them

  11. That Bane trade is the bane of Magic's future. Horrible pun for a truly horrific trade.

    Imagine having 2 of the most exciting players under 25 in Paolo and Franz, then proceed to jeopardize everything by giving away 4 first rounders in exchange for a slightly above average 2 guard.

  14. 4 wins. That's the difference between the Hawks and Magic right now. Panicking during a rebuild is the worst move you could do. Just look at how the Pistons improved with barely any major changes. Just the small ones and internal chemistry improving.
    Also do i need to remind you that Franz Wagner. Potentially their best player has only played 30% of the games this season? Of course the Magic would struggle.
    If Wagner played 60 games instead of 29 then the Magic would probably get another 7 or 8 wins. And we wouldn't even be having this conversation.
    If he's back and he's healthy and he uses the next few games to get his rhythm back i wouldn't be surprised if the Magic pull an upset

  17. Paolo needs to demand a trade this summer! GM has done such a horrible job building the team, everyone has turned on him and scapegoated him and only him, maybe the coach too.

  22. I feel like trading for Giannis would end up much of the same for this team. You’d still end up with 2 main ball handlers that don’t shoot 3’s. Pair franz up with someone who can space the floor and has a great two man game so that the offense can breathe

  25. The fact that the Hawks finally realized that they were a much better team without Trae Young is something that I didn't imagine it will happen.

    As for the Magic, the only solution I can them to take the next step from being a mid-to-low seeded Playoff team to one of the elite title contenders (or at least somewhere between dark horse contenders to an actual elite title contenders) is firing their head coach Jamahl Mosley because as much as he emphasize defense they were not good offensively which is why shooters like KCP and Desmond Bane will tend to forget how to shoot upon arriving in Orlando.

  27. Orlando will become nothing more than a mid team. Not enough shooters or play makers on that roster. Hawks are trending up. Will have likely a top 5 pick in the draft between NO/Mil pick and they have plenty of cap space.

    Then they run in 2nd quarter some weird lineup that stayed wayy to long on the court and just lost the game..

    Timeout came so much to late only when magic were down 14.

    Although it was obvious long before that this lineup did have big problems on both ends.

    It was too late already when the timeout came.

    That game would have looked very different if Orlando reacted early in 2nd quarter.

  37. I’m not out on Paolo until I see him with a coach that’ll actually give the Magic decent schemes. Part of the problem with Paolo is that the coaching staff is trying to fit a square peg in a round hole with him

  38. The main difference between the Hawks and the Magic is that the Hawks chose a superstar to go with. They made a direct decision and were like we're gonna build around Jalen Johnson and let Trae Young walk. The Magic need to take a page out of that playbook and choose either Paolo or Franz Wagner because they can't have both. They don't work together, and I think Franz Wagner even though he is more injury prone, is the better player. They should build around him and trade Paolo, especially because somebody will give you something at least decent for him.
