  1. What you failed to mention is that it was a 1:10 PM first pitch, on a Wednesday. They can’t expect 15-20k attendance when people are at work and kids should be in school. It is hard enough to get Miami fans to show up for games in the evenings and the weekends, much less than mid-week afternoon game – unless, of course, the opponent is a team from New York or Philly, which is a large percentage of Miami residents.

  2. David, you and Jeffrey contributed SIGNIFICANTLY to this problem with your LIES and strategies designed soley to enrich yourselves at the expense of the residents of Miami-Dade county and future generations. My abuelita is still waiting for the $2,000 you owe her.

  3. It would be nice if David took accountability for the decades of cynicism that prevented the Marlins from building a fan base. Their brand is that they're not trying. They play in a top 10 market in the U.S. and act like they're in the backwoods of Alabama.

  4. "it's a fun ballpark"…no it's not. I attend one or two games there each season. The place has zero energy…so they pipe in obvious fake crowd noise (Jeter started this practice and it continues). And the ticket prices are too high for the mediocre experience received. The sum of this is lousy value…fans are voting with their pocketbooks to stay home. The only baseball sellout at Marlins park last season, didn't involve the Marlins…it was the Savannah Bananas.

  5. Swampdwellers don't care about baseball. It's a summer sport and summer in the swamp is horrible.

The Grapefruit League is for tourists.

Marlins win two WS and NO ONE CARED. The Rays are perhaps the best "small-market" teams and NO ONE CARES.

Miami should've never been granted a franchise. It was absurd that they played outdoors in the Florida summer. But even with an enclosed stadium there are no fans.

  6. I do love that this man will say simply what everybody has already thinking and knowing and acting like he's spouting the work of Jesus Christ. I was absolutely shocked today to learn that major League baseball teams will manipulate and try to avoid low attendance numbers…….. First I've ever heard of this.

  7. I get why many Marlins fans don’t show up and it’s because they don’t trust ownership. In ‘03 after they won a WS they tore the team down for no reason and became really bad. When the Jeter-Sherman group came in they traded Stanton, Yelich, Ozuna, Etc for nothing outside of Sandy who was in the Ozuna trade. If the ownership wants to win fans it’s easy. Spend money and keep players long term
