Sean McVay was asked if it should be called the McVay or Shanahan coaching tree: “It should be the Shanahan tree”

  1. That sub is insufferable. Eventually McVay will have people referencing his coaching tree, but he always came from the Shanny tree.

  2. Game respects game. This is the right answer.

When you’re given credit, you give it all away. When you’re given blame, you take it on yourself. This is a good coach right here.

Ask Kyle how he feels about the Kubiaks, you’ll hear the same degree of respect.

  3. I’ll say though that McVay tree should be those who specifically worked under him and not Kyle, though many assistants worked under both.

Liam Coen, Zak Taylor, Kevin O Connell, Brandon Staley, Raheem Morris (before joining Kyle), would be considered.

Both Lafleur brothers I’d consider are in both trees.

  4. It perplexes other 49er fans that I don’t really have any animosity towards the Rams like I do the Hawks, but honestly, this is why. McVay is just too good of a coach. You see his vision and his plays on the field. I can’t hate that. I can hate their success, especially over the 49ers as of late, winning the SB and stuff, but I can’t really hate the team itself. Aaron Donald was too fucking good. Stafford is too fucking good. Kupp was great there. Tons of other talented great players that I can’t help but respect. Puka is a fucking moron off the field, but no it, he’s insane to watch.

The Rams are simply a fun team to watch because McVay is there. If they were coached by Fisher still or any number of former head coaches they had after Martz, fine that team sucks, whatever, but there’s something nice seeing the Rams and 49ers both be good around the same time, after both had a very lengthy dog shit 2004-2017~. The 49ers bubbled up for a few Harbaugh years, then suck back into the shit hole, while the Rams just remained bad for so long after Mike Martz was fired. The Bradford years were so dreadful. I can’t hate a team that went through that.

  5. Your “tree” is everyone who worked under you when you were the head coach. It is pretty simple. They each have their own tree, which is part of their head coaches trees.

  6. This guy just can’t stop making me like him no matter how hard I try to be a hater!

  7. It’s the fucking Bill Walsh tree and it’s the entire fucking NFL. Every damn offense in the current NFL is derived from it, and we can argue semantics, but it’s the truth.

  8. Why is this even a debate? Every one of them worked under Mike S. Before being with either Kyle S. And/or Mcvay
