  1. Dudes are weirdly trying to act as if this is an underhanded move…this is how contracts work. Raiders and all teams have paid for players that went to other teams…

  2. This really is a loophole the NFL should close and maybe even retroactively. This would definitely fall under the category of "circumvention" of the rule. If any team agreed to pay Cousins more than $10M they were supposed to have to cover all of his contract. That's the whole point of offset clauses. The Raiders agreed to pay Cousins $20M for 1 season and then he's going to become a free agent. $20M is more than $10M. This is blatantly obvious. The snowball effect on this could be like opening Pandora's box. If a team believes a player is worth more money than he is currently owed, which the Raiders obviously do with Cousins, they are supposed to have to pay all of it. Players aren't allowed to double dip. Otherwise players can go out of there way to try and get released by the team paying them and then they can actually get rewarded for it by getting paid even more money on top of the guaranteed money they already signed for? That's insane. That makes getting kicked off a team significantly more valuable to the player than just playing well enough to keep his starting job would be. The way to close the loophole is it should be more money than they are owed period . Not just for 1 year. Even if a team kicks the can down the road 1 season they should still have to cover all of it. I don't have anything against the Raiders at all. I hope they do well with Cousins. But this is just bad for football to reward players even more for playing so bad that they get released than they would if they played well enough to keep their job. It eliminates the entire point for the offset clauses which exist for a very good reason.

  3. Mike McCartney (Cousins' agent) is the real MVP here. That guy has optimized Cousins' market value and each negotiation at S-tier level. Legend.

  4. Horrible take.. First the Falcons screwed themselves when they drafted Penix right after paying Kirk.. also the same logic could be applied to the Falcons not paying Tua anything and MIA being out $99m?? Hate this

  5. The 2 situations are in no way comparable. The falcons already figured the 10 million to cousins on their books. Nobody backtracked on them or kirk. And most people believe the ravens backing out was not related to the knee.

  6. Max Crosby was treated like crap, he went hours wondering what was going on. He said no came to meet him. Maybe the Ravens are more dysfunctional then you think.

  7. Hey Mike, are you implying Kirk got screwed over and didn’t know what he was doing when he signed this contract? Are you suggesting he’s an idiot? Are you crying for the Falcons that screwed Kirk over last year? You can call it what you want, but it’s funny a f to me. And the fact you suddenly don’t like this rule makes it even more hilarious 😂😂😂!

  8. Gosh, this guy is ridiculously biased against the Raiders. When the Ravens back out of a Crosby trade, it’s fine—but when the Raiders play by the rules, suddenly it’s a problem.

  9. Hey Mike. News flash he bought a piece of the team. It’s a called an investment. It’s his money. Matt Ryan is an employee. Comparing him is like comparing you and Bob Costas. I know you’re an alleged employment lawyer. You mention it every video. There is a difference, correct? That’s a leading question, I thought you forgot, the last time you were in court, i think we were using MySpace.
