Aside from Trey Lance, who is the biggest draft bust in recent memory?

  1. I think Trey is a bit of a unique case. Most of the other busts people talk about have had years of chances (and starts) to fully measure them against their draft position. Trey… doesn’t. And obviously that’s partially down to him not being the guy they thought they were getting, but injury and happenstance (surprise! Mt Irrelevant is really good!) are a big part of that too.

  2. i mean the Lance pick was a huge one using 3 out of the last 5 1st round picks. It is like saying besides the assassination, how was the play, Mrs. Lincoln?

  3. Not the 49ers…but is anybody else old enough to remember when the Saints traded their entire draft class (plus their first pick in the following draft) to move up to 5 so they could draft Ricky Williams?

  4. Kentwan Balmar. Yeah he was a late first round draft pick but you can’t pick a guy in the first round and he’s out of the league in year 4

  5. It sucks knowing Shanalynch fell for the athletic QB with almost no experience trope. Brock literally saved their jobs.

  6. I don’t think we should breeze past this, he might be the biggest bust in NFL history.

The only reason it isn’t talked about more disastrously is because Brock stepped up to save the team.

  7. AJ Jenkins. More recently Solomon Thomas, but the trade got us Fred Warner. After that I’d say Kinlaw.

  8. The 49ers whole 2003 draft, Kwame Harris (the only person he laid hands on, he had to commit domestic violence on his ex-boyfriend for pouring soy sauce on his rice in a restaurant.) The only worthy player drafted went to a Pro Bowl on another team, 4th rounder, Brandon Lloyd. This draft set the 49ers back 8 years with no playoffs and single digit season wins until Harbaugh was hired.

  9. All of you are so young and it shows 🤣

Giovanni Carmazzi, and it wasn’t even that long ago.

  10. I mean is there any legitimate argument that Zach Wilson isn’t just as big of a bust as Trey Lance?

  11. It took a couple years, but my views on that trade from day 1 were finally vindicated.

  12. I love the guy because he went to high school with me and I was rooting like hell for him, but it is worth noting that Gio Carmazzi was the 2nd QB taken in 2000 and part of the illustrious Brady Six.
