  1. Disagree, at least in this sense – Kobe didn’t want to make friends even with his own teammates, Wemby seems to clearly love his guys.

  2. No. Absolutely no. I don’t mean to speak ill of the dead but Kobe was an absolute asshole to his teammates. He idolized Jordan and followed that assholaic formula. As far as we know of Wemby right now, he’s very cordial with his teammates, and I would be very disappointed if he turns out like Kobe or Jordan in that regard in the coming years.

  3. I don’t love all of the discourse setting up foreign-born players vs. US-born players over the last few years. It might generally be fine and descriptive, but the US is not in a great place for it, in my opinion. Like, even the media commentary about the all-star game setup started entering some unsavory territory about this.

  4. He’s making basketball fun again almost singlehandedly. No more choreographed handshakes with guys from the other team. Also I’ve noticed he doesn’t flop. He takes his licks and makes you pay with his game!

  5. Fuck Kobe! Wemby already higher on the all-time list by not being a fucking rapist racist bitch.

  6. “Early on, when we got him, I said he’s not like these American-born players. He’s not trying to be friends with anybody. **He’s trying to be friends with his teammates, and that’s about it.** He has a Kobe-type mentality. He’s had that from Day 1; he’s not concerned about being your friend, or this guys friend, does not care about what anyone else is gonna say, he just wants to win. He wants to be the greatest to ever play the game.”

  7. After listening to what Jeremy Lin had to say about Kobe’s behaviour in the locker room, I think Wemby is not like him in this aspect. Look at the Spurs camaraderie and how Wemby always gives praise to his teammates. He even went to Sochan’s house to play video games.

  8. Idk why being an asshole should be celebrated but Wemby is definitely not one of them.

  9. I think he’s ultra-competitive but I think he is much friendlier off the court generally than Kobe was in his playing days

  10. In the broadcast, Sean was clearly talking about opponents, not teammates or anyone else. He was contrasting it with this generation of American players who all come up together playing AAU ball and are friends by the time they get to the league .
