  1. I think he’s good enough to coach in the nba but obviously wish him success wherever he goes

  2. Weird. 3 hours ago someone posted “why doesn’t malone have a job yet?” I can assume UNC read that and went “oh shit, they’re right!” /s

  3. Malone has always been really good at developing young guys so I think he’ll do well at the college level.

  4. I will always root for Malone. He was a great coach and I was disappointed when they let him go.

  5. This makes a lot of sense. And if he’s able to find success, I wouldn’t consider it a step back. Maybe he wasn’t cut out for the NBA, but he’s definitely cut out for coaching.

  6. I think his style of coaching is better suited for college basketball and the salary for coaches is just as good. All the best for Moach.

  7. Good for him, it’s one of the most prestigious jobs in all of basketball.

Honestly his personality seems better suited for college anyways (though he probably would’ve been even better pre NIL). I hope he finds success there.

  8. Will be very interesting to see how he does. On paper, Malone’s style and ability to develop players should be a great fit in college.

  9. malone coaching young people, lmao! his favorite group to interact with, very patient and nurturing fellow. I guess he gets paid to watch his daughter’s play volleyball so that’s a bonus or maybe the main point.

  10. His best qualities and greatest strengths are actually perfect for coaching a college team. I never would have thought of it, but this might be brilliant. Can he recruit though?

  11. Good for him. Probably good for the program, although who knows how the transition will go. Would be great to see NC return to prominence under him. He was really a scapegoat fire for an incompetent GM. Should have cut ties with the GM first, although I could see how players might grow tired of Moach.

  12. The cycle is completed. In the before times, the Nuggets were a pipeline for UNC players and coaches, now we are sending one back….

  13. You don’t go from being an NBA champion to coaching college kids. He can easily land a job in Orlando or Milwaukee this summer.

  14. Whoa. UNC? That’s a very interesting hire! I’ve been a long time Tar Heels fan since I was a kid because I liked their colors and they were really good lol, even though I’m a Buffs fan.

I’ll be interested to see how Malone handles recruiting and the entitled kids who are getting paid. He’s kind of known to be a hard ass so we’ll see how that plays out. Now I can root him on again!

  15. Good for Moach, about as good of a college gig as you can get. Good luck out there Malone!
