[Mercogliano] The Rangers make it official, with Kevin Maxwell rejoining the org as director of player personnel and pro scouting. He was mostly recently with the St. Louis Blues as their AHL GM.

  4. This basically falls into the Conor Soucy territory…

    We traded for Calvin DeHan last year. The Rangers played their best 3 game stretch of defense all year with him in the lineup. Drury couldn’t stand for that so he immediately went and traded for Soucy who was a downgrade and the defense predictably turned back to shit.

    Flash forward 13 months later. The Rangers have their most fun hockey in 2 years. Joy is coming back. Young players are getting opportunities. Drury it seems is almost lucking into a team that looks young and fresh.

    He can’t have that. So he made sure he got someone out of assisted living to come direct player personnel to ensure we will find a few old free agents and extend Conor Sheary 3 more years to stop this retool before it actually succeeds.

    If you view this from a lens that Drury’s mission is to destroy the franchise for how it went for him as a player here, this actually makes a ton of sense

  5. I feel like the Blues have scouted pro talent and developed guys in the AHL (Neighbours, Dvorsky, Broberg, Holloway, Stenberg, Lindstein, Hofer) in recent years…what exactly is the fuss here besides “he’s old”? He can be old and still know what he’s doing.

  7. I have no idea who this guy is but I’m going to be outraged and act like I knew this guy was a bum from the beginning
