Pegula’s most dominant win since 2023

This is Pegula’s most one-sided win since she defeated Liudmila Samsonova 6-0, 6-1, at the 2023 National Bank Open.

Pegula won her second straight Charleston Open on the South Carolina green clay earlier this spring, cementing her status as a formidable clay court player.

Many consider Pegula one of the best players on the WTA Tour yet to win a Grand Slam. She has come close on the hardcourts at the US Open. There is a lot of tennis yet to be played, but American fans hope that she (and her beloved Buffalo Sabres who also play in NHL playoff series on Sunday) continue to play well.

Pegula also playing doubles

In addition to singles in Rome, Pegula will play doubles with Australian Storm Hunter.

She has played sporadic doubles in recent years since formally breaking with friend and American compatriot Coco Gauff after the Paris 2024 Olympics.
