It’s Moving Day at Aronimink Golf Club outside of Philadelphia, and Scottie Scheffler has some work to do.
Scheffler posted a 1-over on Friday and ended up sitting two shots off the lead despite entering the second round with a share of it. But even as the weather calmed down on Friday, nobody ran away with it.

But conditions are ripe, for now, for scoring. Already in Round 3 there are several players who are going low, including Justin Rose and Chris Kirk.
Alex Smalley and Maverick McNealy will enter the third round with a share of the lead at 4-under, and there are six players at 3-under, just a shot off the lead. The tournament is truly still wide open. It all just depends on who can survive the course, which has proven to be much more difficult than many expected.
Smalley and McNealy will tee off in the final group on Saturday at 2:40 p.m. ET. Their lead could very easily be gone by the time they hit the first tee.

He found the bunker on 14, pitched out, but couldn’t get it up and down. It’s a bogey for Rose at 14. He’s back to 2-under.

Moments after Kirk got it to -3, Justin Rose joined him with a birdie of his own at 13. Like Kirk, he’s 6-under on his round.

With a birdie at 3, Kirk is now 6-under on his round, 3-under for the tournament, just a stroke back.
Can he get to 8-under and tie the record for lowest score ever in a PGA Championship?

If you’re Rory McIlroy, that is.
It’s listed at 397 yards. Rory just greened it with a 369-yard drive. Yes, it’s downwind. That led to a second-straight birdie, and now McIlroy is in red figures at -1.

Jordan Spieth is taking some heat for his choice of shirt today. But at least it’s useful:

We told you about the driveable par-4 13th. Well, Kristoffer Reitan nearly missed an albatross, knocking his drive off the pin.
That led to an eagle 2, but was thisclose to a 1.

McIlroy follows the bogey at 4 with a birdie at 5 to get back to get back to even par.
Can a string a few more together?

Here’s a look at how the wind is expected to change as the leaders tee off:

After a birdie start, Rory McIlroy has slammed on the brakes, with par-par-bogey.
The conditions may be getting a little tougher.

At just 292 yards, it’s a driveable par 4, which Michael Kim just did… then made the eagle putt. He’s back to 1-under for the tourney

That would be Chris Kirk and Justin Rose, who are both 5-under on their rounds — Kirk through 11, Rose through 10.
Both are 2-under, and right back in it … for now.
The big question, obviously, is how conditions will be when the leaders tee off. More wind is expected, so the early wave could have an advantage.

The PGA of America is once again offering a record purse this spring.
The organization announced on Saturday, in the middle of the third round of the PGA Championship, that it was putting up a $20.5 million purse for the major championship. While that’s still less than some other big events on the golf calendar, it set a record for the PGA Championship.
That means that whoever claims the Wanamaker Trophy on Sunday afternoon at Aronimink Golf Club will also take home a $3.69 million check.
2026 PGA Championship payouts
1st place: $3,690,000
2nd place: $2,214,000
3rd place: $1,394,000
4th place: $984,000
5th place: $820,000

After going 5-under on the front nine, with a bogey, Michael Kim has started the more difficult back double bogey-bogey.
About that 62

From outside the cutline back to even par, within four shots of the lead. McIlroy starts his round with a birdie. Rory watch is 100% on.

In case you were wondering, the lowest score in PGA Championship history is 62, set by Xander Schauffele and matched by Shane Lowry in 2024.
The back nine is harder at Aronimink, so doubtful Kim can go that low. But he’s got a chance.

This, apparently, is going to be a theme today: Justin Rose is 4-under on his round, and is at 1-under for the tournament.
Less than 24 hours ago, Rose was in serious danger of missing the cut. But a chip-in on his final hole for eagle got him inside the cutline, and now he’s in red figures.
Go figure.

Six birdies, one bogey. That’s the card right now for Michael Kim.

Play has been extremely difficult through the first two rounds. But in the early going, there are some red numbers. Most notably: Michael Kim, who is 4-under through six holes … and that includes a bogey.
Nicolai Hojgaard is also 4-under on his round so far.
Moving Day? Looks like it will be.

It’s a wonder this doesn’t happen more often, even with the precision of a pro.
During Friday’s Round 2 of the PGA Championship, Wyndham Clark launched a drive into the left rough of what appears to be the 11th hole.
Now, if you’ve ever been to a professional golf tournament, you know when a ball enters a fan area, said fans rarely want to move an inch. Instead, they stand their ground to get as close-up a view as they can of the next shot … which is how this happened:
Nope, not his fault.
