With the 2026 WNBA season now in full swing and the NBA Playoffs having reached the conference finals stage, basketball fever is sweeping across America.

• Hailey van Lith shows her worth in yet another Connecticut Sun defeat
And with that in mind, here are the latest WNBA headlines from Mirror U.S. Sports…
Hailey Van Lith shows worth in Connecticut Sun defeat
Despite the Connecticut Sun starting the 2026 WNBA season 0-5, guard Hailey Van Lith has proved to be an astute signing for the team after another impressive performance.
While the 24-year-old was selected 11th overall by the Chicago Sky during the 2025 WNBA Draft, she was surprisingly waived ahead of the 2026 season by the team. Connecticut claimed Van Lith off waivers, with the former Louisville, LSU, and TCU guard repaying the Suns’ faith with an impressive performance against the Portland Fire.

Earlier this week, Van Lith scored 12 points and registered three assists in an 83-82 defeat to the Fire. Days prior, she also delivered an impressive performance against the defending WNBA champions, the Las Vegas Aces, scoring a career-high 17 points in a 101-94 defeat.
Speaking before her first start for Connecticut, Van Lith emphasized that joining the Sun’s was the right fit for her, adding she was “super excited” to be playing on a youthful roster.
“The youthfulness of [the group], I was super excited about that. It’s trending like ‘the Young and Turnt.’ It has the ‘Young and Turnt’ vibe going,” she said.
Chennedy Carter storms out of Las Vegas Aces press conference
Las Vegas Aces star Chennedy Carter stormed out of the team’s press conference following their win over the Atlanta Dream.
Sunday saw the Aces defeat the Dream, Carter’s former team, 85-84, with Carter playing a starring role for Las Vegas. She scored 20 points, registering three assists and two rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench for Las Vegas.
However, Carter played just over half the fourth quarter and was not on the floor to close out the game for the Aces.

Speaking to reporters following the game, she appeared irked by her minutes, as evidenced by her facial expressions during the press conference. “I mean, I felt good about my game,” said Carter, adding, “Obviously, I want to help the team close in the fourth quarter if possible. But I think it was a good game. I think Chelsea Gray is doing what Chelsea does, making it happen on both ends.”
She also added, “I’m still going through it. I’m a little bit disappointed. I’m happy we won. But yeah.”
The Las Vegas star then turned to the team PR staff, quickly stood up, and left. She answered three questions during her press conference, which lasted just over a minute.
