Paris Saint-Germain has won the Champions League for the second straight season after defeating Arsenal with penalty kicks at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest, Hungary. The match was level 1-1 after 90 minutes, thanks to goals from Kai Havertz and Ousmane Dembélé. Extra time provided no answers to the deadlock and the Champions League final required penalty kicks to determine a winner for the first time in a decade.
PSG prevailed 4-3 in the shootout after misses from Eberechi Eze and Gabriel Magalhães, whose final attempt sailed over the crossbar to clinch the victory. The Ligue 1 side is the first repeat champion since Real Madrid won three straight from 2016-18.
The match started off right for the Gunners, who went ahead after six minutes. A midfield clearance attempt by Marquinhos deflected off Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard and sent Havertz streaking down the left flank. After seeing his lane to lay a square ball to Bukayo Saka was unavailable, Havertz blasted a shot over Matvei Safonov and under the bar for the lead.
With the goal, Havertz, who previously scored for Chelsea in the 2021 Champions League final, joined Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United, Real Madrid) and Mario Mandžukić (Juventus, Bayern Munich) as players to score in the final match of the competition with two different clubs.

After dominating possession in the first half, PSG continued the advantage into the second half. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia tried to beat Cristhian Mosquera inside the Arsenal box, but Mosquera was whistled for the foul and a penalty, which was confirmed following a VAR check.
Up stepped Ousmane Dembélé in the 65th minute and the reigning Ballon d’Or winner sent David Raya the wrong way to level the match.
After extra time, Gonçalo Ramos, Désiré Doué, Achraf Hakimi and Lucas Beraldo would score their penalty kick attempts to give PSG the 4-3 advantage and a second straight Champions League title.

The loss marks Arsenal’s only blemish on their 2025-26 Champions League record. The Gunners have now played 266 matches between the European Cup/Champions League without lifting the trophy.
According to Opta, the defeat also marks just the second loss for Arsenal in its last 118 games across all competitions when it led at halftime.
