North Texas soccer fans will see plenty of familiar names when the U.S. men’s national team takes the field for the FIFA World Cup.
This year’s 26-man roster call-ups include Little Elm’s Weston McKennie, striker Ricardo Pepi, defender Chris Richards and forward Alejandro Zendejas. Pepi and Zendejas previously suited up for FC Dallas’ first team, while McKennie and Richards built up their skills as young players in FCD’s academy. As Richards is hoping to recover from an injury ahead of the tournament, Pepi, McKennie and Zendejas could play key roles in the USMNT’s World Cup run.
The U.S. is on home soil for the summer tournament, facing teams like Paraguay, Australia and Türkiye in Group D play. Can the squad led by Mauricio Pochettino stake its claim as one of the world’s top soccer powers?
