Ben James, making his first start as a pro on the PGA Tour (and ninth overall), posted a 7-under 63 to get to 10 under and claim the solo lead through two rounds.
“I wasn’t really thinking about really results at all this week,” he said. “Just worried about getting comfortable, making new friends and having fun, and just seeing where everything kind of falls.”
So far, things are falling his way. He has more eagles (2) than he has bogeys (1) through 36 holes and now he’s in the final group on Saturday. Let’s see how he handles it.
What’s the Saturday forecast at the RBC?
According to accuweather, the high on Saturday will be 84 and there’s virtually no chance (3 percent) of rain, so it should be an outstanding summer day in Canada.
The RBC Canadian Open is the second-oldest non-major
The Canadian Open was first played in 1904, making it the second-oldest non-major on the schedule, behind only the BMW Championship, which started in 1899. The top 10 oldest tournaments on the PGA Tour’s schedule:

The total prize fund this week is $9.8 million with the winner earning $1.764 million.
