The WNBA at what price?
Now Mayor Andrew Ginther wants to add a WNBA in Columbus. What part of the city will suffer and how much will it cost?
He claims that he wants to make Columbus the capital for women’s and girls’ sports. The statement doesn’t ring true about being the capital for girls’ sports when you consider there are no community soccer fields near Historic Crew Stadium but move to the border with Westerville and the best fields are reserved for paying customers.
And McCoy Park was given to the National Women’s Soccer League.
How much more will it cost to reconfigure Nationwide to add locker, meeting and conditioning rooms as well as practice courts? And he wants to add a women’s hockey team to the mix.

Of course, none of this is his fault, since he credits his wife with wanting him to do it.
I must say calling Cleveland “a small suburb of Columbus” is just childish and something I would expect from President Donald Trump, not the mayor of Columbus.

Congress must stand up to Trump
President Donald Trump has failed to keep the promises he made during his campaign. On the contrary, his actions are hurting American people, and they are angry.
Trump said he would end wars, but he attacked small boats and killed their occupants, attacked Venezuela and deposed its ruler, and started a war with Iran that lasted more than 100 days and killed more than 1,000 Iranians.
Trump destroyed the careers and reasonable expectations of thousands of civil servants when his DOGE terminated their jobs and left them without employment. His masked and armed ICE agents arrested immigrants and people who looked like immigrants, including some American citizens, and put them in inhumane detention facilities. He cut the medical and food assistance on which thousands of Americans depended.
Trump’s economic and military actions have driven prices up and are hurting American workers. Polls show his approval rating one of the worst of any modern president.
Congress exists to represent the American people. It should do so by coming together in opposition to Trump’s atrocious treatment of human beings, but it hasn’t.
When DOGE ruined the careers of thousands of civil servants, Congress said nothing. When ICE locked thousands of human beings in cages, Congress said nothing. Has Congress no sense of decency?
