The Laver Cup is heading back to California in 2027 after a record-breaking event last year at the Chase Center in San Francisco. The Intuit Dome, home of the Los Angeles Clippers, will host the 10th annual version of the tennis event that features Team Europe against Team World.

“We’re starting to realize that we do much better when we go to arenas that are new and modern, because it’s not just about a great seat, it’s about a great experience,” Tony Godsick, Team8 CEO and Laver Cup chairman, said in a video call.

The $2 billion Intuit Dome opened in 2024 and is the most technologically advanced NBA arena, with features that include a massive 360-degree Halo Board; Chase Center is the second-newest NBA venue.

The 2026 Laver Cup will be in London at The O2 at the end of September, four years after the arena last hosted the event that marked Roger Federer’s farewell to tennis. The event already has commitments from a half-dozen top 10 players: Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, Ben Shelton, Alex de Minaur, Taylor Fritz and Flavio Cobolli. Yannick Noah (Team Europe) and Andre Agassi (Team World) are the captains.

Federer co-founded the event, which is a joint initiative between TEAM8 (founded by Federer and Godsick), Tennis Australia, the USTA and Brazilian billionaire Jorge Paulo Lemann. The USTA invested $6 million for a 20% non-controlling interest in Trident8, the parent company of the Laver Cup, ahead of the first event in Prague in 2017.

“I think it was necessary to have Roger involved to launch this thing, as it’s very hard to launch anything in the sport of tennis,” said Godsick. “Naysayers said this would die when Roger retires, but it has gotten stronger since he retired, so that is proof of concept.”

Godsick points to the evolution of event sponsors, which predominantly were Federer personal sponsors when the Laver Cup launched but now represent less than half of the event’s 20-plus sponsors. Godsick emphasizes that Federer is still heavily involved in the event and eventually will become a Team World captain.

The San Francisco Laver Cup generated more than $20 million from both ticket sales and sponsorships, and total revenue topped $40 million for the first time. All three days sold out at the Chase Center, including five premium hospitality experiences. The Rocket Club, coined from the nickname of event namesake Rod Laver, was the top package at $30,000. The Vantage Club runs as high as $20,000, while the Legends Club is $6,000 to $8,500.

On the final day of the 2025 event, Laver Cup CEO Steve Zacks said Mark Loewinger, who handles bookings at the Intuit Dome, reached out about hosting in 2027 and could offer to block off the two weeks organizers need to set up and host the event. “It’s truly unique when people come to the Laver Cup, because many of them spend the entire weekend there,” Zacks said. “The arena is big and modern and has everything we need.”

There has not been a major tennis event in Los Angeles since 2012—the annual Indian Wells tournament is two hours away. “We enjoy going to places where they don’t have a tennis event,” Zacks said. “It is another added benefit of being there.”

The Laver Cup joins a busy Los Angeles sports schedule. This year included the NBA All-Star Game at Intuit and World Cup games next door at SoFi Stadium, which will also host the Super Bowl in February. The 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games will also be in LA.

“It’s an important market for brands, and a lot of the brands involved in our event are going to be doing something with the Olympics in one way, shape or form,” Godsick said. “[Laver Cup] is entertainment, and this is the entertainment capital of the world.”
