CROMWELL, Conn. (WFSB) – The Travelers Championship begins Wednesday at TPC River Highlands with a mini golf tournament and pro-am event.
Tournament golf does not begin until Thursday, but Wednesday’s schedule includes activities for fans, celebrities and athletes.
What to know before going
Gates open at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Visitors are encouraged to arrive early because of traffic getting into the grounds.
Attendees should expect a lot of walking and wear comfortable shoes.
Large bags are not allowed, and there is no bag check.
Refillable water bottles are allowed, and filling stations will be available throughout the course.

Mini golf tournament supports charities
The annual mini golf tournament gives players a chance to compete for $2,500 for their chosen charity.
Last year, Joe Zone, Marc Robbins and Tracey McCain played in the event.
The mini golf tournament is scheduled to begin later Wednesday morning.
Pro-am tees off Wednesday afternoon
The pro-am will feature celebrities and athletes, including Carson Daly, Chris Berman, Doug Flutie and Andre Drummond.
Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins is also expected Wednesday. The character is from a new Netflix show and is played by Will Ferrell, according to the script.
The pro-am is scheduled to tee off at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
