INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. (WBTV) – A man and woman were arrested after they allegedly damaged a golf course while driving away from deputies in Union County recently.
The couple — 33-year-old Whitney Maske and 38-year-old Nicholas Moore — was reportedly seen driving a pickup truck on cart paths at Charlotte National Golf Club in Indian Trail.
Warrants showed the alleged incident happened on Sunday, June 21, and the couple was booked in jail early Monday morning.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office said the reported golf course joyride happened overnight, and when the truck went to get off the course, a deputy tried to stop them.
The sheriff’s office said they did not stop and got back on the golf course.
At some point, the sheriff’s office said deputies contacted the truck’s registered owner — Moore — who said he was in the truck and Maske was driving. They eventually drove back to the clubhouse and were arrested.
Deputies said Maske and Moore damaged benches around the course and left tire marks near multiple greens.
Both were charged with second-degree trespassing, and Maske was charged with fleeing to elude.
Court records showed both Maske and Moore were given $1,500 bonds and were released soon after their arrests.
