ATLANTA — Police said a 71-year-old woman was found dead at a home in Buckhead on Tuesday, and a man believed to be her son has been taken into custody

Officers went to the townhome on Roswell Road around 12:35 p.m. when another family member requested a wellness check.

Channel 2’s Cory James reports investigators believed it was a domestic incident. They said they believe the 41-year-old man is her son, and he was identified as a person of interest.

Police said they are not clear of what the woman’s injuries are or what caused them.

Lt. Christopher Butler with Atlanta Police said they were told another member of the family, possibly the woman’s other son, was an NFL player.

They did not confirm the identity of the player or the members of the family involved in the incident.

Lt. Butler said police had previously responded to the home in April, with indications the call may have been for a mental health issue with the same man they detained Tuesday.
