Rangers have approached Bologna but have been warned it will be a difficult deal to try and land Lewis Ferguson.
The Light Blues have made contact with the Italian side over their Scottish international.
The Rossoblu has made it clear that it would take a major bid for them to even consider selling.
Ibrox sources have admitted it would be a challenge. The World Cup star has been linked with the likes of Roma and Atalanta with the fees being quoted around the £17 million mark.
It remains to be seen if Rangers could get into that ball park.
It could help if they were to sell Belgian Nico Raskin or Mohamed Diomande. The Italian press have claimed that Rangers have opened talks with Ferguson.
Work is on going on behind the scenes. Ferguson is no stranger to Rangers boss Derek McInnes after took him from Hamilton to Aberdeen and helped to launch his career.
Ferguson has become a key player for Bologna. He is now one of their captains and skippered them to Italian Cup glory in 2025.
They rate him highly and will want top dollar. Rangers have already snapped up his former Aberdeen team mate Ross McCrorie.
They have also signed Lawrence Shankland, Ivor Pandur and Dan Neil.
