CONCORD, N.C. — Following Sunday’s eero 400 at Chicagoland Speedway, only seven races remain in the NASCAR Cup Series regular season.

While the season has been dominated by Toyota drivers, there are plenty of interesting storylines among the drivers currently in contention for one of the 16 spots in The Chase, which will determine the series champion over the final 10 races.

The top 10 drivers in the standings after race No. 26 at Daytona Int’l Speedway (Aug. 29) will qualify for The Chase over the final 10 weeks of the season.

After Tyler Reddick dominated the first 10 weeks of the season, Reddick, a winner of a series-best five races in the No. 45 23XI Racing Toyota, has had bad luck in recent weeks and consistent Denny Hamlin has pushed his Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota into the point lead.

A four-time winner, Hamlin leads Reddick by 44 points after 19 races. Both drivers have 10 top-five and 12 top-10 results through the first 19 races.

Team Penske driver Ryan Blaney, the 2023 series champion, leads the series in top-10 finishes with 14 and he ranks third in the standings with a single victory.

Hamlin’s Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Ty Gibbs, who won his first Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway this season, is fourth, while Hendrick Motorsports driver Chase Elliott, a two-time winner this season, rounds out the top five.

Winless drivers Kyle Larson (Hendrick Motorsports), a two-time series champion, and Chris Buescher (RFK Racing), rank sixth and seventh respectively.

Sunday’s Chicagoland Speedway winner Chase Briscoe (JGR) is eighth, with Carson Hocevar (Spire Motorsports) ninth. Sunday’s runner-up Christopher Bell, who is winless this season, completes the top 10 in the fourth JGR Toyota in the top 10.

Daniel Suarez (Spire), William Byron (Hendrick), Bubba Wallace (23XI Racing), Shane Van Gisbergen (Trackhouse Racing), Austin Cindric (Team Penske) and Erik Jones (Legacy Motor Club) conclude the drivers in the top 16 in the standings.

In 16th, Jones is four points ahead of Ryan Preece (RFK Racing). Two-time champion Joey Logano and A.J. Allmendinger are tied for 18th, 16 points behind Jones.

Brad Keselowski is 20th and trails Jones by 19 markers.

Race No. 20 is Sunday at Atlanta’s EchoPark Speedway.
