WOODSTOCK, N.Y. — The 44th annual DeLisio Memorial Golf Tournament figures to be a special day as a full field of 104 players (26 teams) will tee off on Saturday, July 11, at the Woodstock Golf Club to honor the memory of the late Paul DeLisio.

DeLisio, the past chairman of the private club’s DeLisio Memorial, has been described as the “heart and soul” of the charity golf tournament. The 84-year-old DeLisio died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026, after battling pancreatic cancer.

The four-person scramble will have groups teeing off at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., with teams competing in net and gross divisions.

It will mark the first tournament without DeLisio, who always wore a wide-brimmed hat with a feather and often had his beloved dog, Angel, accompany him to the tournament.

Jeff DeLisio, the club president and one of DeLisio’s sons, said the tournament has raised over $500,000 over the years for two organizations. The tournament benefited the Special Olympics in its first 42 years, and this will be the second year that proceeds will be donated to Mentor Me of Ulster County.

The tournament raised $25,000 for Mentor Me of Ulster County last year.

“This year’s tournament will be in memory of him,” DeLisio said of his late father. “The color for the tournament is purple because that it is the color for pancreatic cancer.”

In honor of DeLisio, the tournament golf balls will have the traditional DeLisio logo and a hat with a feather on one side of the ball.

“My dad was honored last year, but we had no idea what this year would bring,” DeLisio said of the elder DeLisio’s death earlier this year.

Paul DeLisio’s younger brother David, who was also battling pancreatic cancer, died in June. David DeLisio was stationed at the fourth and 18th holes to watch for hole-in-ones at the DeLisio Memorial each year.

DeLisio said the biggest prize of the tournament is for the winning net team. The four members of the winning net team this year will each receive framed artwork from the late Shokan artist Ron Hicinbothem, a longtime Woodstock Golf Club member and Woodstock board vice president. Hicinbothem died in 2025.

Among the notable players entered in the tournament are 2026 Ulster County Men’s Amateur Golf Championship (The Herdegen) winner Ty Monroe and 2024 county amateur champ Ben Fox, who are part of the Timely Signs team.

DeLisio said the team, which includes Joe Farley and Troy Farley, are regular contenders for the net title, which usually has a winning score from 15-under-par to 19-under.

“They’re usually the team to beat,” DeLisio said. “You have to bring your A-game if you want to beat those guys.”

DeLisio said there will be a private interment of DeLisio’s ashes the day after this year’s tournament.

“His urn and his signature hat will be riding around with (his wife) Lisa and I on the course for his last trip around the course and his last DeLisio,” the younger DeLisio said.
