KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (WBTV) – A race team that has previously competed in NASCAR was recently sued by a Cabarrus County company, court documents revealed.
Kannapolis-based AK Performance filed a lawsuit against Rev Racing on June 25, alleging the race team failed to fully pay for parts.
The lawsuit claimed Rev Racing owed the company $75,434.12 for race car parts, late fees and interest. Based on invoices attached to the bottom of the lawsuit, it appeared that many of the parts were for legend cars.
In the suit, AK Performance claimed it made “repeated demands” for payment but the Concord-based race team “failed and refused” to pay. Through the lawsuit, AK Performance sought payment of the $75,000-plus balance, as well as for Rev Racing to cover court and attorney fees related to the case.
The AK Performance case is not the first time Rev Racing has been accused of failing to make payments. The race team was taken to court by Kyle Busch Motorsports back in 2024.
Rev Racing is a development team that has competed regularly in the past in NASCAR’s Truck Series, as well as the ARCA Series. Nick Sanchez won two Truck Series races for the team in 2024.
The team has often given opportunities to female and minority drivers.
Current NASCAR Cup Series drivers who previously drove for Rev Racing include Kyle Larson, Bubba Wallace and Daniel Suarez — albeit all three competed in lower, regional series.
