The National Hockey League and the New York Islanders are hoping the new logo for the annual All-Star Weekend will be a beacon of light for players and fans during the upcoming season.
On Wednesday, July 15, the league and the team unveiled the logo for the 2027 All-Star Weekend — to take place at UBS Arena on Long Island, New York, on February 5-6, 2027 — on their social media channels. The logo takes direct cues from the Islanders’ “fisherman” logos from the mid-1990s, including the colour scheme and the lighthouse from a secondary logo of the era.
The lighthouse forms the second L in “ALL-STAR,” with stars at the ends of the rays of light emanating from the lighthouse. “ALL-STAR” is spelled out in white with off-white beveling on a navy blue background, with a orange sky above and teal and orange waves below. One of the waves has a silver streak through the middle and a navy blue puck at the end.
While the logo featured on the NHL’s social media feeds included the mark of main sponsor Honda at the bottom, there’s an alternate version with the logo of Canadian telecommunications company Rogers in that space, possibly only for use in Canada.
The use of imagery from the mid-1990s is part of an apparent wave of nostalgia for that era in the Islanders’ organization. The lighthouse logo was included as an option in the team’s recently announced contest to design a new third jersey for the 2027-28 season, along with both the original fisherman logo and the revamped version from the team’s Reverse Retro 2.0 jersey in 2022-23.

The 2027 All-Star Game on Saturday, February 6, will feature a brand new format, with five teams — Canada, Finland, Sweden, the United States and World — competing in a 3-on-3 round-robin tournament. Each team will play every other team in a 5-minute game with no overtime or shootout. The top two teams from the round robin will advance to a 10-minute final, where they’ll play for a US$2 million prize. Each team will have nine skaters and two goaltenders.
The 2027 All-Star Skills will take place the night before, highlighting 10 players under the age of 25. Each player will earn points by participating in four of the first six events: Fastest Skater, Hardest Shot, Passing Challenge, One Timers, Stick Handling and Accuracy Shooting.
The four players with the most points will advance to a shootout against one of four All-Star goalies. The two best performers in the shootout will then face off in the Obstacle Course Finale. The player with the highest cumulative score will be declared champion and win US$1 million.
This will be the Islanders’ second time hosting NHL All-Star festivities, with the previous time being in 1983.
