EMPORIA, Kan. (WIBW) – Emporia State women’s tennis will have a new leader moving forward.
Cyrielle Peyroche has stepped down as the Hornets’ head women’s tennis coach, the university announced Thursday.
Peyroche spent the past three seasons leading the program after first taking over as interim coach of both the men’s and women’s teams in spring 2023. She became the first woman to serve as head coach of Emporia State tennis.
During her time with the Hornets, Peyroche helped the program earn recognition both on and off the court. Emporia State women’s tennis finished eighth nationally in community service rankings in 2025-26, marking the third straight year the program placed in the top 10. The team also earned ITA All-Academic Team honors last season.
“I am grateful for the opportunities, support, and experiences I have gained during my time as a coach,” Peyroche said. “I have truly enjoyed working with the administration, our student-athletes, and the university community.”
Emporia State Director of Athletics Steve Rodecap thanked Peyroche for her impact on the program.
“CyCy has been a tremendous mentor, leader, and ambassador for our program,” Rodecap said in a release. “We are deeply grateful for her years of service.”
Emporia State Director of Tennis and men’s head coach John Blackburn will oversee the women’s program until a new coach is hired.
