The Park City Women’s 9-Hole Golf League raised over $22,000 at its 29th annual Rally for a Cure fundraiser for women’s health and breast cancer last July.
This year, the league of 350 women set an even loftier goal of raising over $25,000 for local women’s health and breast cancer organizations in Tuesday’s 30th annual event.
The league drove well past its mark Tuesday, raising $27,000.
Park City nonprofit The Playing For Life Foundation will distribute the funds to organizations like the People’s Health Clinic, Image Reborn and Huntsman Cancer Institute.
Sponsorships, opportunity drawing baskets and donations helped the league reach its new highest fundraising total.
“It was amazing,” league board member Callaway Zuccarello said. “What a day. There was so much positive energy, and with all that energy we were able to surpass our goal and all of our 30 years of previous efforts.”
Zuccarello said she believes the league couldn’t have raised this much money without the help of their members, volunteers and local donors. They had 200 women from the league play golf Tuesday. The group also received donations from Black Rock Mountain Resort, JANS and others.
“Everyone who came out was amazingly energetic and happy to participate in the opportunity drawings and the contests we had on the day,” said league co-chair Kathy Roll. “I was absolutely amazed at the participation from local people and businesses. … It’s an amazing community event.”

Roll’s favorite moment from Tuesday was seeing the festive pink golf carts roll out to the course in the morning. Zuccarello loved speaking with cancer survivors. Roll said everything was pink Tuesday, from the carts to the flags to the cups.
The league is very appreciative of the women’s and men’s 18 hole members who came out Tuesday.
When the women return for the 31st annual fundraiser next July, they may aim for raising $31,000. Fundraising efforts like the opportunity drawing baskets and the “closest to the pin” and “closest drive to a rope” competitions will likely return.
“I would like to thank everyone who volunteered, donated and came by and checked us out,” Roll said. “Hopefully we will be able to continue to do this at the golf course, raise money and have fun doing it.”
For those who couldn’t make it out Tuesday, but are interested in donating, the league is still accepting donations through its website.
