MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Mother Nature tee’d up the perfect weather this weekend for the inaugural Dennis Price Jr. Golf Classic.
A dozen teams were on the green at the Links at Pine Hill in South Memphis on Saturday.
Money raised will help the DJ Price Junior Foundation open a 5th DJ’s Care Closet in Memphis-Shelby County Schools, providing needy students with FREE supplies, clothing and toiletries.

Dennis Price Senior and his family created the foundation to honor his son, a Ridgeway High School star athlete who died from an undiagnosed heart condition at age 16.
Memphis Mayor Paul Young stopped by the event and talked with Action News 5 about the importance of DJ’s closets in the district.
“I wanted to support the foundation. They’re doing incredible work. I went and visited one of the clothes closets that they have at Fairley and I know they’re in four different schools, such incredible work, and I wanted to be here to support it,” Mayor Young said.
DJ’s Care Closets provide school supplies, new clothing, and personal hygiene items free to local students in need.(Action News 5)
DJ’s Care Closets, which are entire rooms filled with supplies, are currently inside Ridgeway Middle, Westwood High, Geeter K-8, and Fairley High.
