The Giants are parting ways with a key piece of their starting rotation.
San Francisco is trading veteran right-handed pitcher Tyler Mahle to the Atlanta Braves, the team announced Sunday. FanSided’s Robert Murray was first to report the trade.

The Giants received 24-year-old reliever Anthony Molina for Mahle. Molina has 55 career MLB appearances with the Colorado Rockies and Braves, with a 6.89 ERA.
In 18 appearances (nine starts) with Triple-A Gwinnett this season, Molina has a 3.64 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 54 1/3 innings pitched. The Giants announced Molina was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento upon the trade becoming official.

San Francisco signed Mahle to a one-year, $10 million free-agent contract in January, and in 18 starts this season, the 31-year-old posted a 5.13 ERA and 89 strikeouts in 94 2/3 innings.
Mahle got off to a rocky start this season but has pitched much better as of late, posting 3.60 and 2.82 ERAs in June and July, respectively.
With the Giants falling further and further out of the playoff race in recent weeks and preparing to sell at the 2026 MLB trade deadline, Mahle, along with left-handed starting pitcher Robbie Ray, were viewed as two of San Francisco’s most likely trade candidates.
