Xabi Alonso will hope to get more of a tune out of his Chelsea team on Saturday when the Blues take on AC Milan in Jakarta. The two European heavyweights square off on Indonesian soil, where the Rossoneri are aiming to extend their undefeated run through pre-season under former Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim.
Milan’s last outing ended in a 1-1 draw against bitter rival Inter Milan, and Sunday will mark the club’s final friendly of the summer before preparations for the new campaign get serious. Amorim is seeking a fresh start at the San Siro, and win over the Blues would be a fine way to round off their slate of friendlies.
Chelsea will not call upon $155 million signing Morgan Rogers to make his debut for the club after the England attacker enjoyed an extended post-World Cup break. However, fellow new signing Danny Welbeck will aim to get more minutes after the shock signing made his debut for the club during the 1-0 loss to Juventus on Wednesday.
Mykhailo Mudryk will also hope to get more of a shot under Alonso after the Ukrainian came on for an eight-minute cameo against Juve. It was the winger’s first appearances for Chelsea in almost two years after testing positive for the banned substance meldonium in 2024, only to be cleared of his remaining ban on appeal.
