The Tennessee Volunteers continue to make strides when it comes to the football program, as they are continuing throughout fall camp and are in the second week of camp. The Vols have hopes of getting everything into order ahead of the first game, which is set for September 5th, 2026, when the Vols host Furman.
While there have been many great things to discuss about the training camp thus far, there have also been some negative things to discuss.
Ty Redmond Is Back With the Team

One of the negative things to discuss in the past has been that Ty Redmond was not at practice with the Vols due to an illness that he was dealing with. Luckily for the Vols, he is back with the team for the first time this camp and practiced with the team for the first time on Tuesday.
This is major news for the Vols, as their star cornerback is going to get the progression that he needs in order to play to the level that coach Jim Knowles wants for his defensive staff that he has put into place.
If Redmond continues to show up the way that he did a season ago, he could become the next great Tennessee cornerback, as he showcased a season ago that he has some of the best traits that a cornerback could want.
The No. 1 thing that stood out the most about Redmond was his ability to bring the ball in for an interception. As a true freshman, Redmond finished the season with three interceptions, which was enough to land him at the top of the statistic among the players on the team. This makes him one of the more feared cornerbacks in the country and will be someone that the quarterbacks won’t want to try their luck against.

As of now, I currently project Redmond to be one of the starting cornerbacks on the outside, as his counterpart will be Kayin Lee, who is joining the Vols for his first season after spending some time with the Auburn Tigers. When it comes to the slot cornerback position, Qua Moss is likely going to be the player who joins the starting group.
Redmond’s role with this team is going to be crucial for any success this defense looks to have, as this team will rely heavily on their best players, and after last season, it seems that Redmond is ready to take on that title.
