SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The countdown to Mark Few’s enshrinement in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame continues, and with just three days remaining, we’re highlighting another remarkable statistic that has come to define Few’s tenure at Gonzaga.
This time, it’s a number that speaks to something Few has done better than almost anyone in college basketball: sustained success and stacking wins.
Few has led the Zags 19 consecutive seasons of at least 25 wins, an NCAA Division I record. The streak began in 2007-08 and continued through the 2025-26 season, when the Bulldogs finished 31-4.
And it’s not just the length of the streak that makes it so impressive. It’s the gap between Gonzaga and everyone else.
The next-longest streak of consecutive 25-win seasons in Division I men’s basketball is 15 seasons, when Kansas did it from 2006-2020.
Think about how difficult it is to win 25 games in a single college basketball season. A team has to navigate injuries, roster turnover, difficult nonconference schedules (which Few is known for having year in and year out), conference play and the unpredictability that comes with playing dozens of games every year.
Now do it for 19 consecutive seasons.
Few and Gonzaga have managed to make reaching that mark feel almost routine.
The streak has also survived multiple eras of college basketball. Gonzaga has gone through significant roster turnover, changing conference landscapes, the introduction of the transfer portal and the rise of name, image and likeness, all while continuing to reach at least 25 wins every season.
The Bulldogs have also come remarkably close to extending the streak even further in the past. Gonzaga has reached the 25-win plateau in 22 of the last 23 seasons and in 26 of the last 28 seasons. The only seasons during that span in which the Bulldogs fell short were 2002-03, when they won 24 games, and 2006-07, when they won 23.
That’s what makes the 19-season streak such an important part of Few’s Hall of Fame résumé.
It’s easy to point to a single championship run, a Final Four appearance or a dominant season when evaluating a coach. Sustaining that level of success year after year is much more difficult.
Few has done exactly that.
Since taking over as Gonzaga’s head coach in 1999, Few has helped turn the Bulldogs from a program that had only recently emerged onto the national stage into one of the most consistently successful programs in college basketball.
The 19 consecutive 25-win seasons are perhaps the clearest example of that consistency.
Gonzaga hasn’t simply had a few great seasons during Few’s tenure. The Bulldogs have made winning 25 games a yearly expectation for nearly two decades.
As the countdown to Few’s Hall of Fame enshrinement reaches Day 3, the 19 consecutive 25-win seasons provide another number that helps explain why his career has been one like we’ve never seen before.
