Two teams trending in wildly different directions clash this afternoon, when the New York Liberty visit the Connecticut Sun as 7.5-point road favorites.
New York has ripped off wins in five of six and are chasing down a Top-4 seed in the WNBA.
Connecticut has dropped six of seven and could be eliminated from postseason play as soon as Saturday.
New York has dominated this head-to-head, so my Liberty vs. Sun predictions and WNBA picks will stick with the current trend for Aug. 15.

New York Liberty’s offense has hit another gear, adding an extra seven points per game during its current run, and that’s bad news for a Connecticut Sun defense allowing 53% shooting and 37.5% from three during its slide.
The Liberty have won both head-to-head meetings, holding the Sun to just 7-for-35 from deep (20%).
That’s been Connecticut’s weakness all season, as they’re last in the league in 3-point shooting.
New York has won four straight against the Sun and eight of 10 overall, with five wins by at least eight points.
I’d back the Liberty up to -5.5.
