Playing styles and prediction

A great early spell in North America on the clay for Duckworth has been neutralised by some poor recent form. The Australian hasn’t found his confidence and fluidity on serve recently which has cost him some results. Now, Duckworth will aim to find some form ahead of the US Open as he looks to climb up the rankings.

Fery will use the slice to force Duckworth into erratic errors and will look to be aggressive on return. Meanwhile Duckworth will aim to raise his first serve percentage and use the forehand to pin Fery behind the baseline. This should be a tough match for Fery but the Brit’s confidence will be high after Wimbledon and the fully rested Brit should edge through in Ohio.

Prediction: Fery in three sets.
